we of course were not at the meeting .

the posts in the elders meeting thread got me thinking about this, so i've spun it off for into another thread.. were you ever 'counseled' because "some" in the congregation were disturbed by things you said/did/listened to/watched?.
here is just some of the stupid stuff that the elders brought me in on.
though they were usually handled through shepherding calls, not in the back room at the kh.. 1: because i decided to change my first and middle names.
Miami Vice! Ahh...those were the days. Forget Crockett & Tubbs, though - how 'bout Big Booty Trudy? Yum! And don't forget Maria Conchita Alonso - Ay, Carumba. But, I digress...
My little bro & I (as well as some others) were "counseled" against wearing - are you ready? - PLEATED DRESS PANTS. Also, the thin-width ties were frowned upon. Apparently, this was way too "fad-ish" a style of dress in Putnam County, FL. LOL!

as long as i can remember even though we didn't vote as jw's i've always philosophically vascillated between being either a closet democrat or independent.
i still don't vote, but when things come up in the media, i find i do have some pretty straight-forward opinions on various items.
what parties views in your country do you seem to vibe with and why?

Richard, uh, Drahcir - you are completely off-base on this. Japanese-Americans and Jews in America have been granted reparations, why not African-Americans? It's not like they own and operate casinos like the Native Americans. I say, this country needs to pay up! I'm with BigBoi on this one...My 2 cents...

doesn't it feel good to not be a jw at this point in history?
through the fear of the last few days, i do have comfort from scripture about my eternal salvation through jesus (as a witness you never felt secure with god--don't miss a meeting or field service for long or you're out), but also because my husband and i can display our american flag on our cars and in front of our house to support our country!.
as americans, we will not stand for terrorism and i'm proud to be in this country.

), but i can tell you all that today has been (and will continue to be for a loooong time) the single most bizarre, surreal event i have witnessed.. i work in an office building at 26 broadway in manhattan, about 10 blocks from the world trade towers.
