Prayer

i am interested to know from other long time wittnesses if they had a hard time with prayer after leaving the organization?

when i left i found it so difficult to pray to "jehovah" and still do to this day.

i am always more comfortable with just "god".

Something that helped me a lot was to discovered for the first time in 40 years the difference combinations of the name Jehovah in Hebrew as written in the English language (I speak Spanish). I also read how the WT used "Jehovah" because of familiarity when indeed God's name is more like YAWEH and that the name "Jehovah" was first used by a catholic monk and many other corrupted info that they teach. Another thing, when I pray, I pray to my FATHER in HEAVEN, and Yes I relate to what you're saying and feeling. The watctower corporation used the name "Jehovah" so much for "branding" purposes (like in marketing) ... to be recognized for that ... yet the NAME under people is saved is JESUS. In my case after leaving that Corporation, I became atheist, gnostic, deist, was into meditation, new age stuff, read hindu, budist, islam stuff... but there are some people that truly are after God's heart ... to them God shows them the way ... the happiness and joy that I have and experience now is undescribable ... now I know that there is a God Creator and that Jesus is the Son of God. I am a believer. I am a Christian now. THE NAMES OF GOD

man im so drained right now and tired i cant say a whole lot.. but you know, i was thinking about going back to them and just to see a bit more about it all.. i dont know to be very honest with you if its thr right thing to do or not on a personal level.. .

i guess i need to mull things over.. .

any suggestions from previous jw's would be awesome for me.

What are you looking for in ANY religion? The meaning of life? Is it about YOU YOU YOU? Or are you really interested in HIM? Are you interested in the Christian faith or in the Watchtower CORPORATION?

The Christian Gospel is very simple ... The Christian Gospel or 'Good News' is that God has provided - by the life, death and resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ - a way for human kind, all of whom by nature have rebelled against Him by refusing to acknowledge His right to rule us, to be restored individually into a forgiven relationship with Him through personal faith in Jesus Christ.

and the only question there is to become a follower of JESUS CHRIST is: Do you believe???? True Christian Faith is not commitment to a system of rules and observances, but a PERSONAL relationship of each individual with God through Jesus Christ.

i was completely unaware of the history or meaning of ancient hebrew letter taw.

shaped like a cross and avoided by various jewish rabbi today due to its ties to jesus christ's death since his execution, taw is a pictorgraph used prior to babylonian captivity meaning "mark," "sign," "covenant," "seal," or more specifically, "sign, covenant, and seal of yhwh god" -- and fulfilled when jesus the messiah finalized the covenant on it through his blood so that we could have eternal life.. is the cross jewish or pagan?

ARCHAEOLOGICAL EVIDENCE

In the KIT article, they quote from a book by an obscure German author who wrote over a century ago. His observations were made on the evidence available to him then and not on currently available evidence. The KIT then says..."The evidence is therefore completely lacking that Jesus Christ was crucified on two pieces of timber placed at a right angle. ... The passing of time and further archaeological discoveries will be certain to prove its correctness."

These words were being printed in Brooklyn, New York, but meanwhile, in Israel...

In Giv'at ha Mitvar, north of Jerusalem, June 1969, some workers on a housing project unearthed an amazing discovery. Unearthed was the skeleton of a man named Yehohanan (John), son of Chaffol, who had been CRUCIFIED between the ages of 24-28 at about the same time as Jesus died. He was executed on a cross with a crossbeam! Copies of the articles reporting this are found on the following pages , along with reports of earlier discoveries. One of these reports shows that a family tomb was discovered in 1945 and the ossuries (coffins) bore the name 'Jesus" in Greek and CROSSES were drawn on them! These tombs are dated no later than the middle of the first century, before the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A. D., which indicates that the symbol of the cross was used to identify those who followed the 'crucified one' even at that early date.

By quoting from this obscure source, the Society hoped their members would be unable to discover for themselves what this book actually says. However, there is one here in Australia, at the Victorian State Library in Melbourne! Copies concerning the relevant pages can be obtained by anyone through their own State Library or Local Municipal Library for those not living in the State capitals. On the following pages are the other pictures found in this book which the Society neglected to tell its members about. They cited ONE picture, which seemed to uphold their positions and then said, "This is the manner in which Jesus was impaled", ignoring the fact that Lipsius believed, based on the evidence that Jesus died on a cross.

We will never learn new things if we keep the Watchtower/Rutherford teachings as BASELINE. Their teachings are corrupted and the result will always be corrupted. One has to start with a new canvas, model, one given by GOD. That's why it is so important to pray God for knowledge, understanding, wisdom when it comes to His things.

Great advise WANNAFREE! A have a neighbor that was studying the bible with JWs but she didn't like the fact that they didn't use the bible exclusively they insisted in using their books. She made a search in the internet about JWs and ran fast from them.

i have a question, primarily for trinitarians, but anyone's more than welcome to comment.

what scriptural basis is there for believing in the trinity?

i can understand some having the view that jesus/jehovah both can be worshipped, and the view that jesus should be, but where in the bible is the holy spirit worshipped?

To dispel the confusion ... YHWH of the Old Testament is JESUS ... do a search about this, I think even JWs have something on this ... God manifested in the Father, Son, Holy Spirit ... NO ONE HAS SEEN GOD ... HE manifested himself to us

I think it has to do with future legal liability issues. They may state, we ALWAYS told them "to examine the scriptures personally" if they believed everything we said without "examine the scriptures personally" it is their fault.

AGUEST - interesting that you know about the the "prepped" for service to males ...

I read a very insteresting article once not related to this but one of those that make you go hmmmm .... early christians that were slaves were told to be in submission to their masters even though slaves in Roman times were used for sexual purposes by them - it was common practice. Male christian slaves have to "serve" their male masters.
