  What will it take to really change the WT Society?

  for many ex-jehovahs witnesses there is a disconnection between what we wish we could be doing in terms of making pronounced change in the ideological structure of the watch tower society or the dissolution of it, and what we actually find ourselves doing.

  at some level we sense there are incredible potentials just waiting to be realized in the collective struggle to bring down the tower not just because it is fundamentally wrong and harmful to millions of lives but also for the changes it will make in our lives.

  over the years though, i think a lot of us kind of feel that we are stumbling around in the dark trying one thing or another without anything serving as catalyst that starts an energetic chain reaction.. in a way, it reminds me of a phenomenon i learned back in my college days about termites.

  Show me the money...Economics 101 for ex-dubs

  in light of reading about the discouraging circumstances that many ex-jw's find themselves in because of not having taken advantage of educational opportunities or other employment related training in the past, i was wondering if there was an interest in discussing practical ways for people to increase their bottom line and get out of the poverty or near poverty zone.. i would think that there might not only be some useful tips and hints from some of the more successful ex-dubs but we could exchange in some downright capitalistic networking and make useful connections that might either land you a good job or better your lot in life by say getting things at a discount.. personally, after leaving the borg, i have had a fairly successful business career which included a variety of accomplishments that ranged from opening up america's first discount college textbook store to being an international privacy consultant and most recently a research scientist.. i've helped people establish credit when they had zero or worse than zero credit ratings, taught classes on entrepreneurship at college, and i've seen and networked with a wide variety of people that made amazing amounts of money by finding something they were good at and that was off the beaten path (you seldom get rich doing something everyone else is doing.).

  anyway, just wanted to see if there was an interest in discussing anything like this.. kind regards,.

  A new car designed for Jehovah's Witnesses

  a concept car that is designed for and will be marketed exclusively to jehovahs witnesses will be unveiled through a series of international religious assemblies in the summer of 2002.. the car, developed secretly in conjunction with the toyota motor corp and the watchtower bible and tract society in new york, is designed to optimize publisher performance in the churchs evangelical membership drive and to leave a good public impression about jehovahs witnesses.

  biometric sensors built into the car's steering mechanism also monitor a driver's pulse and galvanic skin response - sweat level - for signs of agitation, and play smoothing religious songs when the driver is upset.

  if the church member fails to spend at least 3 hours on the weekend in the assigned local area to engage in evangelical activity, the car's computer will issue an alert from a display on the dashboard or send a wireless message to the local headquarters.

  Been outta a hell of a long time and still bummed

  sometimes i do a lot of thinking.. yeah, i know that is dangerous.

  regardless, at times it seems that even though ive been out of the borg for a little over two decades now, gone through expensive therapy, had a long term relationship once with another ex-dub and spent 8 years in college, i still find my personal thinking effected in some negative ways by my being raised a jw.. for instance, i have a really difficult, if not impossible time, ever finding a community where i feel i belong.

  ive lived everywhere from san francisco to cocoa beach on the opposite coast and no matter where i live, i feel like im an alien from another culture.

  Was Jehovah originally a volcano?

  for a change of pace, i thought some of you good folks might enjoy reading a speculative article about the evolution of the modern jehovah.

  while the author of this report has some interesting thoughts on the matter, i still subscribe to julian janes theory as presented in his seminal book, "the origins of conciousness and the breakdown of the bicamerial mind," as being a more likely evolution of relgious belief.. remember not to blow your top when you read the article (snicker).

  Witnessing back in the year 1782

  we all know that the belief system embraced by the jehovahs witnesses did not exist in the year 1782. however, there have been numerous individuals throughout history that have been infected with the evangelical mindset and there have also been atheists throughout history.

  i recently read a most infamous book that had a dialog between a true believer and an atheist.

  i quote a bit of it below hoping that some of you might find the arguments interesting and insightful.

  Religious belief systems can be deadly

  even though the current propaganda from the white house paints the war in afghanistan as only the world united against terrorism (not a war against religious beliefs) the war is in fact being waged against those individuals intimately associated with deleterious belief systems.. it should come as no surprise to anyone after the terrorist attacks last month that some extreme forms of religion can kill you or make people want to kill you.

  sadly, even less fundamental and peaceful forms of religious belief systems can be just as deadly.. i can never forgot or forgive the religious meme propagated by the witnesses that caused thousands of people to die from refusing blood transfusions or the deaths of many individuals who commit suicide because of the intolerable situation they find themselves in when their weltanschauung (comprehensive view of reality) collapses.

  it took me years to recover from the damaging effects of this deleterious mind virus and i consider myself lucky to make such a significant recovery.

  A New Scientific Discovery About J.W.'s

  hi all of you wild and funky people,.

  by way of introduction, some two decades ago, i left the jehovahs witness ideology at considerable personal costs, from there went forward to get a quality college education and im now a research scientist at an american university.

  a few months ago i, along with a team of international scientists, published a scientific paper that addressed a neural-behavioral discovery i had made many years ago that involved jehovahs witnesses.
