hello dear jw community,.
i'm looking for new friends or a new congregation in the area of germany/berlin.
i grew up in the truth, but some circumstances have made me not taking the faith seriously.
"In the truth"
It's such a subtle thing. A person doesn't even think about it. You just hear it over and over and eventually that's how you also begin to refer to your religion. Every time you hear it you find the belief reinforced. What could anyone possibly find that would be better than being "in the truth"?
it seems that many believe that a liberal in the usa must be a democrat, pretty much following the party core teachings and some even think it means approving the party history of, during the 19th century, supporting or tolerated slavery and opposing civil rights reforms after the civil war.
some even insist that a liberal loves anything and everything obama did..
balderdash!!.
I don't hate conservative posters or simply bash whatever they say. Oh, I've poked the bear here and there and expect it in return on issues of politics and religion.
No offense to you. I don't know you. But this is really what the problem comes down to. Everybody wants to poke at each other and score points for their team. It is almost unheard of to have actual productive discussion of politics on the internet. I can have some, a little, with friends in real life, but on the internet it truly is basically impossible.
Even something that starts out as a legitimate discussion of an issue will very quickly turn to crap because one person will "poke the bear" to score a point, then the other side does it, and then it escalates rapidly to "the Nazis vs the Communists".
The absolute smartest thing anybody interested in politics could do is find someone who is diametrically opposed to yourself politically and become good friends with them. Have real conversations with them. Both of you would be surprised at what you could learn from each other if you'd stop with the preconceived notions and actually listen to what the other is saying.
(And the truly maddening thing about all of this is that both sides absolutely know that Trump and Hillary are both horrible, disgusting, self-serving, power hungry scum. And yet they still think if you don't vote for a D or an R then you've "wasted your vote". If they had simply done the obvious thing in the last election then neither one of them would be in office right now.)
i see stories like this one, and think we are losing our way as a nation.

Eric Holder, Obama's attorney general, refused to prosecute black panthers in PA standing at polling places scaring away white voters. Google it. I'm sure the articles can still be found.
Just imagine if that had been a white supremacist group and black voters.
Obama spent two decades of his life attending Jeremiah Wright's church where he railed on and on about how evil white people are. LOL. Imagine if the races had been reversed.
There is absolutely zero doubt that Obama and Holder were racists.

Say what you may about Obama's progressive policies, he was a man that was articulate, diplomatic, professional. Something Trump will never be, but for some strange reason the supporters don't care about civility and diplomacy.
I remember when Obama shot off at the mouth saying cops acted stupidly, spurring on more irrational hatred of police, only to find out later that he should've taken the time to read the facts before opening his mouth. I don't recall him ever apologizing, unless you call the "beer summit" an apology.
i was at the regional convention and asked an elder why is that at the assemblies their is an accounts report but not at the conventions?
he said, well actually they got a letter and in it said that in a little while they will do away with the accounts report stating how much the assembly costs for the weekend and just go to donation basis like at the conventions.. my first thought was, "they will donate even less now.".
anybody else hear about such a thing?.
The Watchtower doesn't do anything that it doesn't think serves its own interests.
They will simply send each congregation in the circuit a bill for the "shortfall" of whatever they claim the expense was. This way they can jack up the costs and very few dubs will ever see the actual number in its entirety, so they won't stop and think "I wonder why the assembly cost 3 times as much this year as it did last year."
i have been reading some medical journals on blood transfusions, blood fractions and its components, antibodies, etc.
it's like another language so i find myself researching the medical terms just so i can understand somewhat.

Nothing to laugh at. In fact, you have stumbled upon the unanswerable argument that I've used against many dubs that has caused them to give up on the blood argument as they suddenly realized their position was unsustainable. Some will just drop out of the subject, and others will just start throwing out random "facts" and attempt to change the arguments or set up strawmen.

As I'm not British my knowledge of the goings-on over there is limited, but I have heard from older Brits over the years that the allowed influx of Islamic immigrants is causing serious repercussions of violence and lack of individual safety. What little I've just read in this thread would seem to corroborate those claims.
I find it absolutely appalling that your courts can ban the press from reporting on a governmental affair like this (and a trial is a governmental affair). As an American I find that completely unacceptable.
i have been rereading a lot about rutherford lately; about his personality and the kind of person he was.
i have come to the conclusion that he was a lot like donald trump.. he was an accused womanizer.. he was a narcissist with a self inflated ego.
he claimed to be persecuted by the media all the time.
Other than the womanizer part, the list also applies to Hillary Clinton. And almost every politician in America, if not the world.
And really, almost every celebrity in the entire world.
Rich and powerful people tend to be a-holes. Not really a newsflash.
i left the wts in the early 1990's and i was baptised at the same assembly as this elder and his wife in the late 1980's they were probably in their early 50's back then, you know the kind; get called on, become a study and take to life as a jw like a duck takes to water, a dream call for all jw's and we went onto to be good friends with them over the years, the book study was held in their house also, he quietly progressed up the jw ladder became an ms then elder, a few months after i started my fade i saw him one day while i waited for a bus and he acknowledged me i said hi etc and he started a verbal tirade towards me about me knowing its the truth, how close we are living to the end, how stupid i was turning my back on it etc blah blah blah, i couldn't really get a word in edge ways, i bid him good day and that was that, he really was quite angry, i never saw him again until recently over 25 years later when him and his wife and their son were having a meal in my local pub, he was standing at the bar ordering, i saw him acknowledged him said hi and he looked straight through me, he said "do i know you ?
" i replied " hey eddie its jookbeard from the ********** congregation, surely you remember me?
" he said sorry i've never seen you before in my life, his wife came over to help him with his drinks and i said "hey pat, how are you?
Whether these two were faking it or not, I obviously cannot say.
What I can say, however, is that there are A LOT of things that happened and a lot of ridiculous stories told that my own mother and father have conveniently "forgotten" about.

I can't tell you the number of times I have seen wearing a beard cause a "disturbance or distraction in {the} community" or my church.
