Scientology Expose: Katie Holmes & Leah Remini are each the cover story for celebrity mags (People & in Touch)
by Faithful Witness inside by side, on the grocery store magazine display, i saw two celebrity magazines with cover stories about scientology.
i purchased both.
i find it interesting, how similar this "church" is to the organization of the watchtower.. i thought i'd share some of the interesting quotes from the articles, which are both mostly about leah remini's new book, troublemaker: surviving hollywood and scientology.

Thanks for posting this. It is interesting to see the same patterns in other cults like Scientology and Seventh-Day Adventism. I've even seen it in business corporations (MLM's) -

These are "warm up" changes for the bigger changes to come. It's basic psychology. In sales, it's well known that if you can get your customer/prospects to agree with you on something over and over then you can gently lead them down the sales track. Cults know this too. Make enough trivial changes and get people to go along with them before you actually get to the big stuff. Give them a few truisms to nod "yes" to and then slip in the lies/deceit for their brains to follow the pattern. Only the most self-aware would notice and opt out. Sadly, Jehovah's Witnesses are not known for self-awareness at all. -

It's hard to say how long Watchtower will be around. When you're talking about an organization like the Watchtower, you're talking about a system that is comprised of many smaller systems within it.
Additionally, you have ever changing uncertainty to deal with, as well as emergence of larger forces due to all those smaller variables.
You also have unexpected consequences to deal with and couple that with exponentially increasing computer/technology power and you have a recipe for some interesting probabilities.
Technology is the equalizer. It equalizes the power and the playing field. Now the average person can cause a ripple effect of positive change.
Most people don't really understand Moore's Law of exponential returns. Computer technology does hot advance the same tomorrow as it did today. It doubles the doubling of the doubling that was doubled by the previous doubling. (Example: So what used to take 20 years of progress in technology now takes a day. Tomorrow that same 20 years of progress will only take 12 hours. The day after that 6 hours. ) (The Age of Spiritual Machines. by Ray Kurzweil)
Everything has a life cycle and that includes religions/cults. One thing for sure...the organization has been forced to make change. Change is the crucial key. Although many of the changes have ranged from ridiculously lame to completely bizarre....it is still *change* that the organization has been forced to make. There is an interruption to their status quo and now it seems like they are in hot water financially.
I personally don't think it will even take 5 years for them to completely die out as they are now. There may be things within the organization that none of us know yet, that if we knew would change our opinion about the time frame to Watchtower's self-Armageddon. However, this is just my guess in the dark with absolutely no concrete evidence to support my theory/opinion -

Is it really that great being one of the Governing Body Members?
by John Aquila inmovie stars travel to, or buy their own private beaches, they get invited to fun parties, and are able to buy not one, but several fast sport cars like jay leno.
they can buy their own planes and helicopters and fly them like harrison ford.
(how much fun would that be?

Easy access to kids all across the globe.....predators will pretend to be anything , including a JW and GB, to have that kind of access to kids. Yes, like so many others have said, they want power, adulation and money.....but more so than anything..... it gives them free range access to a steady supply of obedient kids. -

The JWs in the crowd gasped in Australian court..
by koolaid-man inshocking information near the bottom of this report from a watchtower lawyer definding the organization in australian courts.focus on the information under the heading: "the faithful and discreet slave".
quite the shocker... the society's lawyer statesthere is no true physical body of people, but only a theological arrangement.
the jws in the crowd gasped.

US Royal Commission or Something Like it
by mrmagic inwhat would be the equivalent of a us version of the royal commission?
i'm not just asking about one specific governmental entity, but perhaps even a conglomerate of entities or series of events that would need to take place to cause a domino effect....a tipping point.
who do you think needs to be contacted that can turn around and contact a lot of others?looking for thoughts and ideas.

Lieu I was thinking the same thing. Thanks for that point.
The girl next door - great post! I didn't know that there was a Presidential Commission in the US. I will dig into that further and see if we can get some contacts to communicate with.
JWdaughter I also agree that the actual "judicial committees" and their processes are flawed. This point is very important, and it is something that does need a closer look by all officials and governmental agencies, in terms of understanding the overall JW mindset.
Thank you all for posting your thoughts and information. Helps a lot.

SecretSlaveClass thank you for thoughts on this, as well as understanding the intention. It is easy to misunderstand things sometimes online.
OrphanCrow hello there and I'd like to thank you as well for taking the time to post your thoughts. Really, I did not think of the judicial committees in this way, and you do certainly have some valid points.
defenderofTruth hello again. I appreciate you trying to answer questions from other posters here, however I'd like for you to consider everyone's ideas here as valid and important, even if they disagree with the content/resource kit/letter template. I prefer to answer and communicate with people who have posted here directly. I do appreciate your good intentions and thank you for the time and efforts you've put into things so far.
I appreciate everyone's input here. In any case it boils down to one of two paths;1. You don't agree/like what this post is about. You are not comfortable spreading the ideas presented - Your thoughts and feelings are valid. You have my blessings to continue you on your own path/journey. :)
2. You may/may not completely agree, but you do want to bring more awareness to the ideas presented.Or you want to explore the ideas with an open mind and do some of your own research on it.There is a lot more information to this in the works and it takes some time to go through all of the information. So I believe that I've covered everything. Anything further, you can message in private.
Thanks again everyone! I am confident that you have been authentic and truthful in communicating your thoughts/ideas/opinions/comments and that is really refreshing. Great group of people here!
Although I was looking for a few helpers (which some great folks have responded and started working on things arlready). I think the most important thing that has happened is a dialogue and a discussion about the topic that started. Carry on. Private messages will be checked and responded to periodically as time permits.
