Hecce you're right about the "busy body" gossip sister. There is at least one in every congregation it seems and I've seen one disband an entire body of elders in a single congregation via her gossip and take down a PO and a few elders in another congregation. She boasted about it too and had a way of writing to the headquarters as to convince them of her ideas. Some of what she told was true, but she also added some extra things about the ones she did not like. It's interesting to see that even CO's are vulnerable to these types

Wo how informative. Thanks for posting all this info about being a CO and your experiences. It is very eye opening to see that CO's have a limited amount of power within the organization. We were taught to view them similar to saints too.

JWorg & Scientology both have child sex abuse coverups within
by mrmagic injust watched leah remini's season 2 episode 1 about the child sexual abuse within scientology and the coverups.
the same cookie-cutter patterns as what we have with the jehovah's witnesses.
they have mention australia and i'm wondering if the australian royal commission will one day investigate scientology.

Cha ching thanks and you're right that it just may click. Flipper it was really sad wasn't it. Totally know where you're coming from on that and yes please watch this show if you are an activist or someone who cares about children being safe. Even the adults aren't very safe.

So sorry about her being killed :( And I see it as a slap in the face to her and her grieving family and friends to say that "Jehovah God rescues us from violence. As if to say she was not a true Jehovah's Witness or was not fully accepted by god in order to be protected or rescued.

I went informal witnessing today
by Chook ini go to the local mcdonald's for a strong latte and raisin toast and i perched my feathers on a corner seat noticing a older european guy in a suit sitting by himself, so i move next to him and said it was warmer this chair.
i say you on business matters mate, he says ya but seemed only interested in his news paper.
i knew he was jw because jw assembly hall is not in a business district.

Just watched Leah Remini's Season 2 Episode 1 about the child sexual abuse within Scientology and the coverups. The same cookie-cutter patterns as what we have with the Jehovah's WItnesses. They have mention Australia and I'm wondering if the Australian Royal Commission will one day investigate Scientology. In any case, I think it's really great that Leah Remini is doing this on national television, so that people in general can become aware of these things and hopefully one day we'll see a positive change for the better. My heart goes out to the victims and survivors. Here's the link to watch in case you're interested https://rutube.ru/video/29b4084b94b755713656c0d63e0db1a3/?ref=search

Do you feel comfortable being an apostate?
by Chook ini always found it uncomfortable to informal witness to people but trying to convince a jw to jump ship brings much more pleasure..

I'm comfortable being me. I don't carry the label "apostate", but also don't really care if someone calls me that. Actively speaking out about the injustices within the organization feels right and good to me. It is part of my personality and I also speak out against other things and do other forms of activism, not just xjw activism.
Having said that, I'm never really comfortable, as I'm continually pushing myself and stepping outside of my comfort zone on a weekly basis in some form or fashion. I can't stand being stagnant, day in and day out, like I was with the JW's. So now, I'm comfortably out of my comfort zone. If that makes sense :)

WTBTS of Britain - in the deepest of holes!
by Nicholaus Kopernicus inthe britain branch of jw’s has been afforded significant but involuntary exposure in the media recently.
this is principally because of the investigation of the charities commission in a congregation in the suburbs of manchester as well as an investigation into the britain branch of jw’s itself.
if a job is being done well, it normally withstands scrutiny.

Latest Study Watchtower - JW's NEED to confess to elders
by The Fall Guy inwatchtower november 2017, page 10, paragraph 8 - "today, a christian guilty of serious sin needs to seek the help of congregation elders to recover.
) why is this so important?
first, the arrangement for elders to handle cases of serious sin comes from jehovah, (2nd lie!

I never went to the elders for anything. Didn't trust any of them. Saw how other people were treated and knew better. As soon as someone was df'd there'd be gossip and rumors. People who came to the meeting once or twice a year suddenly phoned me , asking me did I hear about so and so getting df'd at the meeting announcement. Then after affirming, they'd tell me all the juicy details as to why, and I'd always be so amazed at how a person who wasn't even regular at the meetings would know so much juicy gossip about df'd and da'd people.
