i don't want to give a full synopsis of saturday's drama, for fear of inducing stupor among this thread's readers, but.... .
the drama deals with a jw family with 3 kids, 2 of whom are in various stages of rebellion against all things jw.. the older brother is one of the "rebels", while the younger brother is a thoroughly annoying piece of brown-nosing crapola, completely buying into the jw mindset.. anyways, the younger brother is asking the older brother about why he doesn't want to attend the family study any more.. the older kid's rambling answer touches on something along the lines of "i'm learning things in school about how life really came here.
it's not as simple as you think!".

so we had a 'special' visitor today in our hall, somebody from patterson, young fellow with a wife.
off course i didn't catch that at first until he started name dropping in the first 5 minutes that he was from bethel .
so he goes on rambling about how we live in the last days and blah-di-blah .
Where we're from, a lot of the elders themselves are on that level. One time a middle age man said:
"Bull pucky!", while a local elder was on a FDS ti-raid and it's rules. And those around him heard it,
and snickered under their breaths! Another time an older man who was hard of hearing, use to talk loudly
during the talks. Only trouble was, he had a knack for poor timing. Can you imagine how perturbed
the elders were, that every serious talk became a comedy show! Some of this man's phrases were:
"Huh! What was that? , What did he say? I see his mouth moving but I can't make a sense of it,
What did he say? Was it important?" Most in the hall heard these comments regularly,
since strict silence was enforced at that hall. Sometimes, the speaker had to include him into the talk
by answering him back with a: "Why yes!"
Yes, my family realizes this too. We call it a "sugar high". Or say:
"No meat, just the same ol' grizzle" with a dash of spice to hide it's flavorless nature.

MrMonroe, yes! "We speak the truth" who are "in agreement", as with many others on this post.
unless you're still searching for "the truth", are you happy to know this "truth" is not even out there?.
Our family is happy to realize that the WT's: "truth" was a lie.
Because those of us with best intentions could not please some of the men that the WT "appointed."
When you read the Bible by it self while meditating on God, your bound to cast some of the elders
into the "bad guy" roles. We quit going to their self-glorifying meetings were loop members perform
before the CO, to get parts at the assy. Many of their family members were mean. I mean,
really mean! You could just see it in their faces. you had to be there for a while. Many we're into the
practice of putting on a show for visitors. Truth? Nope! Not at all. All pretend for some of these folks.
We feel really bad for the clueless left behind, but if you tell them they have a nervous breakdown.
It's happened several times. So make sure they have a security blanket before you answer their questions.
though i have never been a pentecostal, i remember well the frequent stories i heard of this religious movement while going from house-to-house in the past.
i wonder if you guys heard similar stories.
one story i heard a few times was about the confession of some males going to pentecostal churches to peek at girls throwing themselves all over the floor in epileptic movements, and some mention the word "panties" being exposed as an attraction to them.
A) It's clear that what we have today; called organized religion,
is manipulative/money/power driven.
B) It's nothing like the worship that JC taught the apostles,
they prayed to God; not prayed upon victims.

Kinda' like the elders rampage this last decade of stripping down the bro's privileges, allot then left.
But guess what? The elders started screaming for men to reach out, few did; so they cut out one meeting.
They said it was for "gas" reasons, but it was their excuses that was full of hot gas!

The atmosphere in this religion/corporation has changed a lot since my family started!
From the 60's through the 80's, those who left only exhibited a few of the (a) - (j) traits
as mentioned above. During the 90's the Cong's situation was sometimes confusing,
sometimes quiet. But then around the turn of the century, things almost did a 180
in the middle of the hall! Almost out of no where, it was some of the elders who were
displaying a lot of the mental examples that's listed above. It got ugly! There was no peace
in many of the halls in our area, and we heard of similar things throughout the country.
i have to hand it to the society, they have big brass balls.. one of the lines in the drama: "i've been doing some research online, you're in a cult, they're brainwashing you!
" .

all of us who have any ties to the jws know that they have their own vernacular, their own slang.
sure, there are formal titles that we can't really get away from: pioneer, ministerial servant, elder, ______ overseer, governing body, the (watchtower) society, etc.
but there are plenty of other bits of parlance they use that i can do without.... for example:.

Heres some of the ways my family deals with JW lingual, and the bad memories associated with it.
1) Select a different definition from the dictionary. (there's usually 3 - 5 to per word)
2) Try thinking of good times that include the word, so it can compete with the bad memory.
3) Read theological books that uses academic words to replace WT's fable language.
4) Vent! Like right now as we type, that's a form of therapy.
