The yuk factor and others

I think the yuk factor would be induced quite often when it comes to foods. So many differing palates exist in the world and people become so fond of what they are exposed to when young.

The kindness of (worldly) strangers
by moley inyesterday i went surfing, when i had finished and got changed i tried to start my car, no joy.
there were about 12 cars in the car park and the occupants of 8 of the cars all tried to help out at some point as they could see i was having difficulties, one guy even drove to a garage 5 miles away to get me a coffee i didn't even ask for as it was a freezing cold day and a couple of them let me sit in their cars to warm up while i waited for the rac.
contrast this to a time when i was in and my car wouldn't start (different car lol) in a kh car park and all i got was snarky comments, or advice in passing but no one stopped to help out.. i know who i prefer, has anyone else been helped by the evil worldly's while ignored by the loving jw's.

In my experience, people are people and kindness is lurking everywhere. With the JWs, every thing involves judging, Are they "worldly"/in the truth? Are they weak/strong? Are they rich/poor? On and on it goes.
When that kind of constant "judging" is going on non stop AND you are taught that you are "thinking like God thinks" it lowers the innate kindness level in people. The idea that going out in service fulfills ones entire moral obligation is all part of the mindset also.
The end result is people who are LESS kind than average.

D'Fd coming to the aid of a JW in good standing
by keynumber inno he's not my biological brother, nor has he ever been in the position to help me, we'v in the past have been out in the ministry togethor, very quite, single brother in his late 30's.
drives a little truck, he gives a ride to a specially challenged brother all the time, they never sit with each other as sister do that ride with each other to the hall, not a good speaker, reads with difficultly, sits in the back, only i quess has two suits, boots that are rounding out at the heals, a sign of walking in the city on concrete, always sits in the back looking in total peace, after the meeting stands alone in the back with a smile that tells you he's in total confidence not careing if the brothers just pass him up, real handshake, just a nice guy, getting to what i want to say.. we were moving and in the move i found hedgetrimmers and blower still in the box brand new, not even opened.
i had them for such a long time, never needing them, just keeping them stored along other 'junk' as wife calls it, keeping stuff just in case the tribulation comes so i won't have to depend on jw's when were hiding from the caos, that is determined to get jw's.. thought of him..,but didn't have his phone #.

Elder sexually abusing daughters and step daughter - never punished
Elder stealing from contribution box - nothing done.
Elder forging appointment recommendation letter for his cousin (an elder) nothing done about it.
Elders son attempted rape IN kingdom Hall - the girl ran. Elders son moved away. Again, no action taken.
Elder gambling, allowed to step down with no furthur action taken.
Seeing a pattern here?

First post in years
by voodoo lady inwhen i was last here, my mother had recently been diagnosed with cancer.
there were potential issues regarding transfusion, none of which eventuated.
she undertook a course of chemo which worked quickly and effectively, with minimal side-effects.

When people are dying their reality is so changed that they see things that might not be seen at other times. I think your mother saw in you all the things we are hearing expressed now in your words.
