I now hate being called 'sister'

since waking up i find i am bridling at being called 'sister'.

but it feels like an identity that is being forced on me.. i feel like shouting "i have a name you know!".

it is just me or does anyone else recognise this?.

I have come to believe it is part of that "high control religion" thing.

Many JWs love being one because of the inherent family/friends/belonging that they see on the surface.

The underlying fissures become evident if you are ever in a moment where the rancor of an individual peeps through...

then you will hear things like "well excuuusse me, brother"

Or a brother telling a sister as a subtle put down

"well you see, sister"

both are said with sarcasm and to remind you of your place within the arrangement.

yawn, whatever

these people are so boringly ridiculous.

in the 1969 kit the society used a book by bible scholar justus lipsius as source material for their upright stake "stauros" doctrine of the death of christ.

they used an image of a man hung on an upright stake with no crossbeam attached to it.

then they placed a caption under it saying that the illustration came from lipsius.

How are Pro-JW sites handling the RC situation ???

Yes they are quiet because they truly dont know what to do with this information.

Is it persecution?

No - its factual AND the government turning on religion thing isnt supposed to be them first!

No, the Royal Commission is a large body of people investigating everyone, not just the JWs....

Is the Governing Body a man made invention who changes what the "holy spirit" directs according to legal pressure after their outrageous rules come to light?

MAIN impression was at the end when they say to "continue to support them as much as your circumstances allow"

that sounds like $$$ is part of what they want by their use of that word "circumstances"

They made it entertaining by showing exotic locations and stations.

Truth is in most countries, C.O.s and their wives rarely break a sweat or get out of their leased cars and air conditioned Kingdom Halls/provided apartments.

Bottom line seems to be to manipulate the viewer in to being more impressed with C.O.s in general and donating more money.

Australian Branch Stats?

while i'm working on this, can someone here do me a favor and look up the peak publisher figures reported by watchtower for the australian branch for each of the years from 2005 through 2014?

do you think that any of the clueless, amnesiacs that appeared before the rc will have a crisis of conscience over the abuse situation?

seriously, with the grilling they received from our new heroes, they would have to be sociopaths not to do some long hard thinking about the lack of empathy and compassion the borg displays as a top down policy towards abuse victims.

i can understand these idiots not having an awakening within the confines of their daily lives since they stay cloistered in their belief system, but the rc forced them into the real world with their questions and one would hope, made them think.

I am of the opinion that if you embarrass a person they will not examine the conversation in their minds.

Where there is no examination there are no new conclusions.

It was not the intent of the RC to embarrass and they went out of their way to give dignity to the Witnesses but I dont think that is how the elders left there feeling about themselves, hence no learining.

Angus Stewart calls the JW religion a captive organization

if you watched the questioning of terrence o'brien by angus stewart at day 7 part 3 on youtube--thanks so much for uploading these videos--you'll see that mr. stewart puts quite clearly to brother o'brien that the jw 0rganization is a "captive organization".. he makes this reference regarding the practice of da/df'ing and shunning, which he mentions is the one thing that makes ex-jw's the most angry.

because insisting on shunning ex-members causes psychological trauma and separates people from their family, friends and their community of support; therefore, they are held captive by the organization if they don't want to lose those most dear to them.. i believe angus stewart is to be commended for seeing clearly what the wt/jw religion is truly like in practice, and it isn't pretty.. the term "captive organization" is usually used in finance to mean a business front, a legal veil that shields the parent company from liability and having to make big insurance payouts.

for example if the australian branch gets sued and loses, the "wt australia" corporation will pay the amount awarded by the judge to the complainant.

ok, thanks oppostate and Brokeback W for explaining.

I think the point above is extremely likely and lawsuits will start to be filed (and won) over the DF policy.

I say that because I think the climate is finally ripe for public sympathy to side with the individual that has been wronged over the religion and its "rights".

Religion doesnt have much respect with people today and it is becoming less each day.

People are getting very aware of the rights of the individual though.

All bad trends for the Org.
