Guardians Of Doctrine (GOD) and the Governing Body
by punkofnice ini don't know if gb member g jackson really meant the gb were 'god', with his 'guardians of doctrine' comment at the arc.
it's nice and conspiracy to think so, i suppose.
i honestly don't know.

Hey Punk!
Im glad you brought this up...I was amazed when I heard him utter that phrase frankly. If you have been in the truth long enough you know the cadence of the things they say as well as the "language". This didnt fit. This sounded elegant and worldly wise and deep nothing like the way the Org talks ever!
Because of that, it stuck in my mind. I kept wondering if maybe there was more to this man than I thought.
Nope.
Did you happen to see a post by OrphanCrow somewhere on a thread that this phrase was first uttered by the Pope in a speech he gave just recently (2014)?
So it came from the mind of one of the speech writers for the Pope. Someone who has imagination spiritually and the latitude to express things creatively.
Once again the GB has hacked something.

Guardian of Doctrine Admits 'Doesn't Really Matter If Jehovah is Accurate' say it how you want...
by LostGeneration intough to watch this whole video, the way he talks gets pretty annoying, especially after the rc hearings:.
http://tv.jw.org/#video/vodstudio/pub-jwban_201506_1_video.
go to around 8:20 where he gets into the pronunciation of jehovah.

Thanks for giving those times so I didnt have to sit though the whole thing...
he looks SO goofy...he has a naturally smirky way that his features land when he tries to look animated.
Unfortunate when you consider he is one of the "better" GB members for them to parade out for public consumption.

Rebel With A Cause....
by The Rebel in" only the good die young".
or at least they remain eternally young and heroic particularly if they died for you.
the trouble is we can outgrow our hero worship and our opinions of that person can change.. this is what has happened to me with my childhood friend and my hero jesus.

You asked a fair question so I will give a fair answer....
I dont know!
I am trying to work past our "break-up phase" me, God, Jesus, organized religion, etc.
At this point it is all one big ball of wax. I am unraveling it as I move through my days. I read the opinions of others here and it helps me to isolate my own feelings more clearly.
For example, I already know I dont want this experience (being a JW) to leave me reactionary. I dont want to bounce automatically in to being a jaded bitter person just because I was suckered once.
I want to explore ALL lines of thought including the possibility that there is no God/Jesus/ spirit life.
BUT this comes with a proviso....I want to explore new lines of thinking with kind intelligent people.
So thank you for being brave enough to put your opinion out there for me to weigh and consider. I really appreciate your viewpoint - especially the part about how other notable characters can and indeed have added to our dimension of thought on how to live a life.
Duly noted!
and to DJS - yes I do see you being sweet! You sweetheart you : ) and thank you for that...it means I can read your post instead of automatically avoiding it by scrolling right past with no look see. I can learn much from you and want to be able to read your words - so thanks!

Nearly Killing My Mother Wasn't Enough !
by cookiemaster inas some of you might have read last week, my mother had extremely low hemoglobin and without it, she would have died.
i have somehow managed to bring her to reason and accept the transfusion.
it saved her life.

Hi cookiemaster,
First, Im glad your mom is feeling better! You remain an awesome son in my book and most definitely in hers...
As for the D.A. Just to get technical for a minute. The latest Elders secret book contains a different way for it to be handled than the book before,
If the person capitulated in a moment of weakness or is sorry they are NOT to be dealt with judicially.
Given that, plus the rough way they handled the whole thing, I think you have a really good basis for a law suit if they press ahead.
You wont actually have to go through with it because once the elders call the Org for direction they will be told to drop it.
That way it can be up to your mom if she wants to continue her relationship with this organization or not.
Her choice. As it should be.

Paint, Barney, and Jehovah
by John Aquila ini made a quick run to lowes to buy some paint and ran into a brother.
he is one of those elders that is very, very, petty.
if he drops by your house unexpected and notices that your kids are watching one of the star wars movies, he will counsel you for allowing your kids to watch any movie that has to do with war he will then make sure you are not recommended for any privilege.

Intro and Thoughts
by ThinkerBelle ini've been lurking on the board for almost a year now and i think i'm ready to come out of hiding (although, i'm so nervous as i type this).
i'm not ready to share everything about my story, but the basics are that i'm a born-in, elder's kid, baptized as a teenager because i was tired of hearing people ask me "all your friends are baptized, when are you going to get baptized?
", married an unbeliever (was df, but came back shortly after) and we have two kids.

I think that being true to oneself becomes something different when one becomes a parent.
It then means that for the next ____ years, you will seek the best interests of that child ahead of and before anything.
Your plan sounds wise to me CrazyGuy.
Who was it that said - hold your friends close and your enemies even closer?

by Elisa1966 inso, there is the annual meeting in october - do you have any news about it?
topics etc?

Yes Half banana, we will ridicule them and sadly enough they will provide all the material needed for that.
stuckinarut, that is exactly what they are attempting to do. But why does the H.S. need more revisions than a college paper????

Because they are totally reactionary in form, we know what there WONT be...
there wont be any talk about pants or socks or spanx.
Looking back over the forum here I have been amazed at all the back and forth over doctrines about blood, childbirth, vaccinations, will the people of Sodom be resurrected, type and antitype etc.
They launch an idea, cherry pick some scriptures and when that doesnt seem to work they dont just change it they reverse it and call it "new light"!
All in an attempt to persuade people that they are Gods spokesman.
So if the best indicator of the future is the past then they will stay far away from all the things that brought such ridicule on their heads last year.
