The elders of the 1980s are now in their 60s and 70s
by truthseeker inhaving just come back from the uk and spoke with some witnesses to find out how my old congregation is doing, i realized i am now the age that my elders were when i was a kid.
and i wonder what the elders who are now in their 60s and 70s are thinking when they look in the mirror and an old face looks back at them.
many of the elders in my old hall are now retired.

The title of this thread mentions most elders being in their 60s and 70s now. So what happens when they hit the "80 and you have to quit being an elder" rule? -

Jonathan Drake
After the way Jackson used the scripture in acts that states "appoint for yourselves SEVEN reputable men" in the RC hearing, I think the plan is to keep it at 7.
After all all if there is one thing the organization is good at, it's using numbers as magicYes. Even though they speak out against it - they are the biggest numerologists of all.

Is there any non white non American candidate?
That will be who they pick maybe?
Arent Latin countries growing the fastest? Any Latin GB helpers?
Or maybe someone from an African country? That would be a big score for the JWs in their "we are soooo united" spiel.

I love what half banana said about splinters above.
Perhaps instead of death by a thousand cuts the Org will die the death of a thousand splinters?

The elderly sisters are at it again.
by John Aquila inawhile back, about a year and a half ago, when i was starting to wake up, i explained to my mom that when the circuit overseer is in town, they schedule shepherding calls after lunch, not because they care, but because they dont want to work door to door in the hot summer or cold winter.
and they know that a prepared call means some nice hot chocolate and cookies or some ice cold tea and snacks.
i remember her looking at me kind of funny so i ended the conversation and left it at that, and never brought it up again.

Yes I see that about you. I see the fine results you get with a light touch and being able to walk amongst the English so to speak!
Thats an old Amish phrase btw in case you are wondering what the heck?

Ha ha....
I keep my sense of humor - thats how!
No, seriously speaking, I am just considered very weak and very hurt from an event they all know was wrong that happened in our area.
People are extending me a long line of credit due to that. I think the hope is that I will heal but in the meantime I learned the real truth so there will be no healing in the direction of going back.
There HAS been healing in realizing this is a two bit organization full of hocus pocus and in getting over my shock and taking a deep breath and seeing who I can rescue while simultaneously using their own policies against them!
Those of you who have had to serve as elders have my deepest admiration and sympathy. It is a hell on earth job if you are trying to be a good one.
