I thought they were on the way to dropping it last year.

When all the summer conventions were about welcoming parties and letting people do the stroll on the stage in the Kingdom Halls.

For a 100 year anniversary, the barely touched on the whole "date" thing. I thought all the distraction and the dainty stepping around and the barely mentioning were smart.

I thought they were all well thought out choreography to letting it die.

Then they went and did this broadcast!

Beyond stupid of them strategically. They were almost out the door so to speak!

It is looking from way out here, like there is a wresting for control in what info will be disseminated to the rank and file.

The wiser "let it drop" folks got their way last summer. The zealots have taken charge this fall.

Is it because there is a power struggle in the tower or is it an attempt to start us all focusing on that instead of other things (such as the money issues and pedophile issues)?

I think the older ones are praising it for the obvious reasons..

The ones who see themselves as "stabilizers" in the congo are going to praise it out of it being part of their job description.

I dont think the younger ones give a fig and that is the part I dont understand....why doesnt the GB just let this die a natural death the way the 7th Day Adventists did with their 1844 doctrine.

i had a secret conversation with a dyed in the wool jw recently.. they told me that they felt that the organisation now was a different religion to the 'good old days' when knorr was the boss.

the books were more interesting.

the zeal was there.

Do they even have any good writers anymore? I would love to hear Barbara Andersons thoughts on this.

Of course, even if you have good writers - you need content for them to write about.

That is probably the bigger problem for them.

So well put and I couldnt agree more!

If you look hard at the new publications, you can see they are copy/pasting sentences and paragraphs from older publications and just linking them together.

Its an attempt to stay relevant. After all, they never expected to be here this long!

Its like the saying "Quick! Im their leader, which way did they go?"

Here is the comment where that statement is made on JWArchive. Its on page 8.

Not that the page number helps because as people load their pictures the page number will change.

Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania owns over 7% of J.P. Morgan Chase Liquid Assets Money Market Fund.

Here is a page by JP Morgan Chase about how much $ is in that mutual fund. Take 7.3% of that total and we are one VERY RICH religion. ;-) Jehovah has blessed us.

I just did the math and as of today that total is equal to $1,361,584,818.41 give or take a few pennies. Wow! Jehovah is smiling.

I just read over on JWArchive that they own a 7% investment with JPMorgan.

Can anyone really know all the places they have stuffed money?
