How will many JW's react ?

i did not believe i would see the demise of the wt in my lifetime, and maybe i will not, they may be able to ride out their present problems.. but how do you think this will affect the average, loyal, believing jw ?.

usually most things just wash over them, if there is a slight niggle, they use their well-worn way of explaining things to themselves as in "the end is near" or "jehovah knows best" etc etc.

but the huge sea-change in corporate policy that we see unfolding, all construction work stopped, except warwick and maybe their biggest project, chelmsford u.k. huge bethel layoffs, and the lifestyle of the remaining staff reduced to virtual slavery, more bethel closures, spiritual food reduced for the public as well as the r&f, and all of this being the opposite of what they have claimed was evidence of jehovah's blessing ???.

These new changes with the focus on the preaching work is an attempt to rally the troops. Ugh, I can't stand this manipulative cult.

That is so true...if a person looks back at posts here from this time last year, everyone was talking about how the preaching work didnt seem as urgent with all the building plans and the trolleys and the almost manic referencing to JW -dot- Org by all the JWs.

The whole train was going down a different track and in less than 9 months there is a complete switch and the gloss over is "were a gonna focus on the preaching work"

got a call from a relative that i should go to the meeting this sunday because something major to be announced.

(they were told it has to do with branches closing down, missionaries being sent home, etc).

i said it's probably money.

do you remember the wt lawyer trying to get justice mcclelland to accept a new and improved report from the wt "expert", monica applewhite?.

the wt lawyer even managed to squeeze more time from the commission for applewhite to prepare her report.

funny thing is, applewhite never submitted that report.. i guess she has been too busy with catholic business...no time for the wt dudes.

it has to be of concern to them with how quickly information is getting leaked.

hell it even surprises at just how slowly information spreads by offical means.

As to JWTalk - it is hysterical reading there. Did any of you catch the poster who said that they wondered if someone should call the branch and let them know info has been leaked? LOL

pretty sure they know based on what they did at Ceders...

also, what are the chances that the Org will change their plans midstream and cancel the changes mentioned in the letter leaving the release of the book undone and leave the School/ Service meeting the way it is?

think about a few things.

in bethels hay day, there was a shit ton of literature being printed, they even need a giant factory with elevators a truck could fit in.

Well for one thing, they need a state of the art nursing home for not just the GB but all those old timers that are high up helpers and Corporate.

This would include living quarters, dental facilities, PT department (physical therapy) eye clinic and a small surgical suite for minor surgeries (skin cancer removals etc) and other more practical daily life services such as laundry, barber shop, cafeteria.

Then there is the bunker aspect. This is the underground ventilated state of the art war room where they will cower while they wait to be raptured.

In addition to all of the above (its real purpose) there is its stated purpose and they need the requisite housing and offices for the legitimization of those aspects also.

definitely something going in the london bethel.. i thought i'd ask them again (and record it again) what the situation was regarding the new britain branch construction work.. i got the same sister (debbie) and here is how the conversation went: .

me: i've been told that construction of the new branch has been stopped - is this true?.

debbie: no, it has not ceased, it's carrying on as normal - can i ask where you're calling from?.

I wasnt thinking so much of what you said about the Orgs legal team as I was what you said about their financial advisors.

Im sure they run P&L statements every quarter. No one saw this coming in 3 quarters of book work?

That is really hard to believe.

(which I agree could add weight to what you and Doc think, that maybe this was being orchestrated on some level)

I am looking at this from a different angle though.

I absolutely do not think they wanted to have to announce the layoffs and construction halt. I dont think this is part of a plan.

I think when they bragged about the greatest building work the world had ever seen they fully thought they were going to do it. Remember how they stated they would buy properties not even for sale yet?

But I do have to say...I dont know anyone or any real info whatsoever. Im just guessing.

So what thing of magnitude would they have been unaware of? Its only been 3 financial quarters since then,
Remember who your source is for your reasoning. Its the WTS itself. Your reasoning is based on the assumption that everything said last January was truthful. It could be that they already knew the building plans were going to have to slow down (or stop), but they had to have a smokescreen to steal all the funds from every Congregation. Now that enough time has passed (in their opinion), or the financial situation has even worsened, the other shoe drops.

Thanks Doc, I get your point and see how what you are saying works if they are doing this as part of a plan to bilk the flock.

I am working from a different theory I guess.

I think when they called the elders together and when they read that letter about the biggest building work the world has ever known, they meant it.

I think they thought it was coming to pass...C.O.s were all excitedly saying "wait till you see whats coming..." and then voila...the letter and the plans for construction on a ramped up level.

Of course, I have no insider info and could be completely wrong. Probably am in fact!
