It looks like they really hustled to get that part in print about those leaving Bethel need to have a good attitude.
I guess that is an attempt to shut down the talk that is already happening....
today's watchtower:.
obey us, obey us even when it seems strange, obeying our man made hierarchy equates to obeying god, sacrifice your own interests, work for us, don't be independent, put your own interests aside, obey some more, preach for us, build for us, enjoy it, obey some more, forgive when we are jerks to you and mistreat you, accept your changed assignment even if it seems cruel and doesn't make sense, don't complain if we move you (eg.
) because you might have to move in the new world, remember you are being trained to obey, remember to put your own interests aside, that's the way we are designed to live - it will only make you happy!

...with dick and helen kelly.
got to meet joe and barbara anderson and their friend joy on their whirlwind u.s. tour.
wonderful conversation and opportunity to reminisce about our wts experiences and our plans for the future.
living with 4 other guys.
"good morning, richard!
richard is almost never in the house.
Great story and well told - I really enjoyed that.
Nice picture.
Look like the two most interesting men in the coffee shop for sure!
in short:- tight pants is no longer just a am3 hang up (or is that a hang up on the well hung?
)- brothers who have effeminate body language are flagged up- as are sisters with 'masculine' hair styles or dress- such dress is 'disturbing to the congregation'- the above must heed the (repeated) counsel from the elders...or they get stripped of the right to share on the ministry- however...this will not be revealed (announced) to the congregation.
wow.
What a GREAT and sizzling thread.
I am enjoying the intellectual back and forth of everyones points.
My point?
I am thrilled about this. Truly.
It has been rather hard trying to fade with my rabidly JW family alternating between tears/guilt and anger/shame in their attempts to "reach my heart".
When I first read this rumor almost a year ago, I mentioned it to still in family since it was a point I found on JWTalk .I thought that was a place even my family would not have a problems with since they are just like the folks over on that website.
Imagine my surprise when the retort was "those crazy rumors are what you get when you go to online sites period. You know the only site you can trust is JWs official site. "
The person saying this is the official leader of my extended family...elder, missionary etc.
I asked him "what if its true, this rumor?"
"It wont be" he said assuredly, "The Society would never be that imbalanced and controlling"
So I would like to tip my hat to the unbalanced folks that run the "org".
Thank you for making it SO much easier to look at my JW brother and say "now what?"
i heard that co's were provided with a talk outline in which people who dress and act too "gay" could eventually "no longer qualify to share in the ministry", should they not change the way they look!.
has anyone else ever heard of any other reason for which someone would be disqualified from the ministry?.
Well stated Jeffro.
What I dont understand is on what basis are they going to revoke an ordained ministers right to preach with the group?
For "appearing" gay? Imagine the law suits that could arise from that accusation being made.
The other thing that befuddles me is they are having a heck of a time getting people to GO out in service, so they are going to risk making the problem worse?

StephaneLaliberte
But seriously, do anyone know of any way to be disqualified from the ministry? Even pedophiles have the right to keep preaching
We had a case here locally where a DFd person insisted on going out in service.
The branch was consulted and they said - "leave them alone".
Apparently even being DFd does not disqualify one from being under obligation to preach.
(cough)
So......if there is now a dress code that is really a 180 from the former stance.

There was a really long discussion about this over on JWTalk a few months ago.
I remember someone started a thread about it here too.
It seems most thought that was just a rumor but based on the "where theres smoke theres fire" idiom, Im beginning to wonder!
i'll start off with this one:.
some years ago when i was formulating my exit, i employed for some time an ms brother from another congregation.. i'd had a couple of young "worldly" lads work for me but they proved unreliable as they used drugs or alchohol and consequently would'nt arrive at work and such like.. so when i was was contacted by this brother and spoke to him and heard he'd worked at the australian bethel for some time on construction and wanted an opportunity to learn the trade of bricklaying ,i thought ,"great someone to finally trust and be reliable".
he was in his 40's at the time and he worked like a trojan ,was honest ,really likeable and interesting ,could play the classical guitar beautifully ,had a beautiful family.

Elders are the secret weapon who will guide the flock through troubling times ahead?
Oh this is rich....
I have been watching the elder pool in our local area dry up both in quanity and quality.
First there was a split. 5 elders for each Hall.
Now all the original elders have moved away or been removed except 2. New elders have been brought in for a grand total of 8 shared between the two Halls.
One Hall has dwindled to the size of a book study (approx 45 people peak attendance).
Of the 8 elders, one is an alcoholic who relapses occasionally. Two others take anxiety meds and are either hyper or zombie like, depending.
3 others are brand new and were appointed out of desperation. One is barely able to read and the best thing that can be said about him as far as qualifications is that he is very "friendly" to all.
Also, between the 2 halls there have been 5 elders who have rotated through the COBE position because they just dont want it in just over two years.
It has all just become a joke.
