Watchtower crackdown on anointed expansion - are they reaching for a solution to the expanding numbers problem?
by slimboyfat inif this has been discussed i missed it.
i think the january study watchtower is a concerted attempt to reduce the numbers claiming to be anointed.
but i love the sneaky way they go about it this time.

Does having young GB members who profess to be annointed have anything to do with why they are being deliberately vague in print? -

Little "oops" in today's WT Study article.
by stillin inparagraph 12 recommends that we meditate on the weekly reading for the theocratic ministry school.
ok, i'm splitting hairs here.
but there will be no more tms in a week.. somebody isn't keeping up with jehovah's celestial chariot..

Great catch stillin!
Maybe its because the chariot is going in circles?

When did district conventions become regional conventions and why?
by slimboyfat ini think it was gary and heather bottings' book the orwellian world of jehovah's wifnesses that noted the function of the habit of the watchtower organisation of changing organisational terminology periodically.
congregations became companies and then back to congregations again.
circuit overseers became circuit servants and then back again.

I love what Aude said.
They sound like good people and if you dont reach out you may regret it. If they spurn your attempt, it is on them.
It doesnt sound like that will happen though. I bet they will be glad you got in touch.

Some of us are saying similar things in various ways.
I think they are having a hard time pumping up the "look" of a brimming full crowd.
Thus throwwing the net wider?
That is what is behind the "international delegates" too I suspect.
All the people dressing up in costumes, all the welcoming committees and skits inside KHs - that was some pretty amazing stuff last summer.
Watching them try to downplay nationalism and up play 'BROTHERHOOD while everyone dressed in native costumes = some even like cowboys (Texas) and that was the attendants, was worth seeing!

CoBE Joins those Elders Deserting the Sinking Ship
by The Searcher infrom a reliable source:.
a young cobe - late thirties, maybe forty - has resigned in december 2015, both as the cobe and as an elder.
word is that he is a man with a young family who is stressed out and has had enough.

There are many good things about this.
One, if elders start stepping back it makes it ok for those other elders who are on the fence to do the same.
That momentum once it gets going will be devastating to the good ole boys running this Org.
They will try to react in such a way as to stem the tide but the rank and file pubs are getting a little uneasy with this new style of reactionary leadership already.
Once the herd grows uneasy it doesnt take much for them to bolt.

Merry Christmas!
by lambsbottom inwow, 4 years!
it has been a real journey.
going from a devout jw, to having a close call with a loved one possibly needing a transfusion, to researching the heck out of everything, to letting it rest and go back to sleep for a while, to moving states and almost going crazy knowing all the bs they were speaking from the platform.

Beautifully written. I am happy for you lambsbottom (Jake).
I especially liked what you wrote about things getting simpler. I can see that happening in my own life to. You are right.
Life is so much more now.

American accents, Bette Midler, Clinton, Rick Fearon, Strathclyde, Morningside
by slimboyfat ini used to enjoy being able to distinguish different local accents, but for some reason i've got worse at it.
i was thinking about this today when i was listening to bette midler on the scottish radio.
i thought to myself i quite liked her accent and also that it reminded me of someone else.

I always liked Ben Cartwright on the American TV series "Bonanza".
He sounded so "sure" of everything he said and his voice was deep, rich and dignified.
Funny thing, I think he was actually Canadian maybe?
