  I would venture that JWs would outright reject with no consideration, any "lumping" together with anyone.

  They really play the "chosen by God in the last days" card to the hilt. If you say it enough and want it enough it MUST be true I guess.

  Do you think it is articles like the one in the OP that have contributed to the great distancing from Russell that has happened in recent years amongst the JWs?

  Gas Pump "Witnessing"....Is this a thing?

  i've seen this twice now within a month.

  a car group hanging out at a gas station.

  one of the cult members jumps outs of their car and runs up to a "worldly" gas pumper, arm stretched out, tract in hand, and here comes the juvenile at best question.

  Its considered a great way to get your time started or to keep it going after a break or whatever.

  I personally think JWs love that type of interaction because it is guaranteed to be short.

  This whole "witnessing" thing goes against human nature. It is more of a hardship for some than others.

  Last Day of Chemo

  today is the end of my son's 3 -1/2 year treatment for leukemia.

  we had a small party at the hospital with nursing staff and a few friends.

  it has been a great day with the exception of getting walking pnemonia from his sister.

  Knowing somewhere a Daddy is holding his healthy little boy close and enjoying a movie makes things look a lot better.

  Funeral Memorial Service: Who was this mystery man?

  last night,my wife and i went to my cousins funeral memorial service.it wasn't as bad as i thought it was going to be.they had two video screens with pictures of my cousin from a baby to the end of his life.they stopped playing as soon as the service started and the screens were raised out of the way.. the family and close relatives arrived one hour earlier to find seats near the front rows and have a little family time.. there was a mystery man that was seated near the front with a tablet,a jw.org pin on his suit jacket and just sat there writing on his tablet the whole time without greeting anyone or even speaking.. does anyone know who this man could be?

  was he sent by the society to make sure everything went well?.

  Hi Rules,

  My sympathies to you and your family in the loss of your cousin.

  It does sound like maybe this mystery man was in charge of setting up the stage and/or sound.

  Who knows what he was really doing on his tablet. What if he was here posting!

  Probably not but interesting to think about.

  Super Bowl 50 Panthers versus Broncos, Getting ready for the big party

  any others going to super bowl party in a few hours?who's your pick to win the big game?looks like they bringing more celebrities in for half-time show.i'm going to be pulling for the carolina panthers for two reasons: !

  ) i'm currently living in n.c. 2)would be nice to have a new team win it this year that's never won.i'm happy that at least the new england patriots aren't in this year's super bowl.

  they are a great talented team but have just had my fill of them being in so many over the years.anyhow i just hope this year is a great game and that the half-time show doesn't suck.go panthers!!!!!!!!

  My son calls the Super Bowl the best American holiday! LOL

  I guess it meets the criteria. Even has its own traditional foods now. I dont care much about the game but I do have to say Lady Gaga showed off her range and pitch singing the opening anthem!

  Where did Lett say that Abel witnessed his own birth? I could not find that statement.

  Most of the info in the transcript of Letts talk is word for word copy/paste from the book they are studying at the midweek meeting now. I think it is called the Imitate book?

  Another example of them quoting themselves instead of thinking.

  i don't think you'd recognise me much at all.

  i'm a royal mail postman, i love my job for the early starts and midday finish, the outdoors and the exercise.. i get on with people but i'm quite insular and don't enjoy crowds.

  i'm happiest when i've fired up the charcoal and i'm making souvlaki or adana kebabs for my family and a few close friends.

  Hard to imagine isnt it?

  In real life, I am also a photographer and write poetry. I am in the "have too many books for my shelves" club along with a lot of you.

  Excepting the JW literature that is...

  All tossed except for inherited bound volumes left to me from now deceased faithful JW relatives who died waiting for the promise.

  Those are boxed up in my garage while I try to figure out what to do with them.

  I also have 3 huge dogs that are my heart.
