Hi Minimus,
Good thread. The truth is no one knows.
Beware of people who speak with absolute certainty.
are our dead loved ones watching over us at all or are they really just gone now?
Hi Minimus,
Good thread. The truth is no one knows.
Beware of people who speak with absolute certainty.
i haven't posted much lately because i got a new job at the end of nov. and it's taken much of my time and mental energy.
i still read though and care for you all very much so i thought i should let you know about the meet-up i had yesterday with mr and mrs flipper.. hubby got a call the day before from flipper saying he and his wife were going to visit his mother (who is in a rest home in my town) and would we like to meet up for coffee?
hubby couldn't make it but i was delighted to accept.. we picked a burger place not far from the rest home and where i knew jdubs don't usually hang out on saturdays.
Thanks for taking the time to write your post out for us to read. I felt like I was there.
And it is lovely that you will be checking in on Flippers mom, older people love visits and it is so good for them!
i can't recall the word that describes a group that keeps to itself like the witnesses do.
i thought it was "insular" but i don't think that's the one i'm looking for after reading the definition.
i remember an elder using the word "clannish" and that has the proper definition but it reminds me of a group of elves.
these numbers and letters:--gbr659967--are the only identifying markson this boe..the "informant" who sent it said:.
"this letter came through the congregation inbox and so hasn't got theusual identifying information.
the name of the file is probably thebest way to identify it.
Sugar Shane
WTF is up with all this 'secret squirrel' bullshit?!
I'm not a JW, so from my perspective, it seems like they view themselves as equal, or similar to a government agency. What a crock! I have filled out various government forms in the past, such as the US Nat'l Agency Questionnaire, and other forms for civil service. My employment has not required a confidential or above security clearance, but I'm pretty familiar with the screening process.
The distinction is, that these Gov't forms actually mean something, and they carry the weight of the law-- such as when you file your taxes.
These JW elders, and their higher ranking members seem convinced that their little system of forms and BOE letters equates to some kind of official, important, high-level, secret correspondence. Maybe that's the case within their little fishbowl. But, for those of us on the outside looking in, it just looks pathetic
Great post Sugar Shane and you are right...that is exactly how they view themselves.
Only they feel superior to any earthly government or agency.
They feel that way while at the same time, mimicking the forms and the procedures used by those entities.
Even their use of a "judicial" system as they put it when their code of ethics is transgressed upon by a member is a very inferior imitation of a legal system. I say inferior because while they use legal terms, the JW system does not have the checks and balances or any real judicial system Not to mention it is also lacking the training given to the supposed "judges".
we have several examples in the forum showing that president knorr was not a loving and caring person; one that impressed me was the one about the elderly bethelite that was put out on the streets until his death due to a disagreement with knorr.
i bring to your attention an incident that happened in the country of honduras back in the 50s, it has to do with immoral conduct by a branch overseer and his subsequent disfellowshiping.
i am not critical of the end result of his conduct but rather the salacious and detailed report of this matter putting in the open the details for the whole world to see.
So his wife went along to observe whilst pretending to be on a "back call"?
You know, its only once youre out and have had some space and distance, that you realize how wacko it all is.
ok so a car pulls up to the house and 3 eldurrs from my dads congo come up.
they come in and have thee nerve to ask me to step out so they can speak to pops!!!!
this is the good part.....pops says...and i quote " whatever needs to be said..can be said in front of my son".
Im proud of your pop too!
What a magnificent comeback!
..."we are"--at this point i began shaking my head no--"stopping by to share a scripture.".
she had the wt and bible in her hand.. "please do not come to this house ever again.".
"ok we will put you on the do not call list.
I never say anything because of the fact that when I was "in" when people said things to me it didnt make a dent.
No matter what they said I had a wall up that discredited anything they said. Anything.
So I guess I just go situation by situation now, is the best way to describe it.
The least I do is just walk by.
The most I have said is " I am a JW but have backed away and cannot support the current direction they are headed in."
I am non confrontational too - damn also! LOL
i guess we have to assume that jesus was circumcised on the 8th day but what about adam?
he was "perfect", so did he have the weenie cut or not?.
i would like to bring this question up at a "get-together".. rub a dub .
No he wasnt - and Eve didnt have pierced ears.
Similar analogy.
I took the survey.
Happy to help!
