Hello Everybody
by Thomas the Bill Engine ini didn't see an introduction forum anywhere but i thought it would be weird to start posting without first introducing myself so, here we are.
i'm 15, and i've been looking for a place to discuss my thoughts on the religion that i'm pretty much stuck in at the moment.
my mom and dad divorced over their different beliefs over a year ago (my mom is jw and my dad is an very knowledgeable apostate, so you can see how they would fight over it), and since then i've stopped believing altogether.. just thought i'd say hello.

Who Picks The Governing Body?
by millie210 inhey everyone,.
just a simple straight forward question on exactly what the process is.
if a gb member died tomorrow, do the remaining ones choose who gets to be next?.

I had heard that before Clarity but didnt have names to put to the scenario so thank you for that.
I am starting a document of things I want to keep for that fun day when I talk to my brother (hes a missionary with the extremely narrow range of thinking that you would expect to go along with that) and try to make my case.
I am not rushing it. I want to be prepared.

I signed off last night and you were headed to the E.R. !!
So.......coffee in hand, this was my first stop this morning to see how that went for you.
I am glad you are home...being sent home is good.
The funny thing about your type of accident is the bangs and bruises (and hematomas) are MORE painful than a simple broken bone.
remember...rest, ice, elevation, whiskey.....
I added the last one ...(FYI)

What got me started thinking about this was the whole process of picking a justice for the supreme court.
In the U.S. (for those of you who live in saner countries) there is a whole huge jockying for position going on in the U.S. over picking another person to serve on the Supreme Court.
The choice of this person carries a lot of ramifications.
So as it relates to the GB...they pick their own successors.
Is this a unanimous vote?
Are there any outside voters?
Do the Adams brothers get to vote for instance?

In the old days, without him knowing about it, they used to put a Bound Volume of the years Watchtowers under a stack of mattresses and have the potential candidate sleep on it (princess and the pea style). If he couldn't sleep that night, they knew he was GB material.
Nowadays with the CD's and all, I'm not sure how they go about it but I'm sure it's all very scientific.
LOL
Yes, Im sure it is all highly scientific (not).
So they need something bulky and useless to sleep on????
Hmmmm....
How about a written explanation of the overlapping generations?
