This video is like a really bad take on the old bomb shelter videos they use to show in schools back in the 50s and 60s.
I was going to say it is like a Twilight Zone episode but they were much more cutting edge than this Org video so no.....cant say that.
The problem is trying to run this past people who have seen "The Walking Dead" and other post apocalypse shows. The realism of those shows makes this look so lame.
The Org has not learned that you shouldnt venture in to an area where you cannot be competitive.
Its gonna take a whole lot of cheek biting for the average JW not to howl with laughter upon seeing this.

Is it just me or does question #9 seem oddly juxtaposed in this list?
The topics seem to be about self, about a young persons interactions and then you have EVOLUTION?
to quote Sesame Street:
Which of these things is not like the others.....

So can you pray for others that are not JW's ? Or only JW's
by tor1500 ini'm a witness, so i need to know...can we pray for someone that isn't a jw.
reason i ask, once a friend of mine was going for an operation.
i asked an elder could he pray with her before she goes into the hospital.

I really want to say to the Elder....you told me that you can't pray for this lady & here it is in Black & White & from your God/Governing Body, saying...Jehovah is pleased when you pray for others....& after that statement was a period..It didn't add a coma & say, Only others that are your brothers, sisters or studies...Hi Tor,
Great thread. I can identify with so much of what has been posted.
Can you weave a comment on what you KNOW to be true in to a talk you are giving?
If you are not on the school, then can you weave it in to a comment during the comments section of the midweek meeting?
I noticed there is a part coming up in May about how to use the JW library....
it would be fun to comment that you had this question and then use the scriptures from this thread to show research from their own library that you were right!

I dont think anyone is flying the plane as far as quality control.
They are in a tizzy over money right now and throwing spiritual food at the yapping masses is just a side thought.

The "apostacy stigmatisation" of doing research!
by stuckinarut2 ina thought occurred that the way the society has stigmatised the doing of external research by witnesses, and labelling any such questioning as "apostate", is tragic.. no doubt, in every other aspect of life, we research things before making decisions.
eg, if making a purchase, we go online and check reviews etc to check the product out.
we don't just trust the words of the marketing department.

That is a good point Blondie made about the shift since the early 80s. I have seen that play out in the look and feel of the literature and in conversations but I hadnt put it together as to why....
The ONLY good thing I can see about the dumbing down of the JWs is in the natural progression of things, you will end up with only dummies.
Thinking people will not be attracted in to joining a religion of dummies even with the shiny hook of he literature cart and the veneer of international brotherhood.
Eventually the content of the "hooks" will drop (it already is) and the hooks wont work either.
So dull ineffective hooks and if a person happens to stumble in to a KH then a lot of people who are in the lowest echelon of intellectual ability, all gathered together.
alrighty then!

Begin with the end in mind.
Then work back to where you are now.
I want to end up with the freedom to move laterally around in my family and social circle.
I am also completely done with the JWs as having ANY truth other than the common things everyone else possesses.
Ironically, that makes it easier to not feel so much.
I have been doing an ultra slow fade and allowing the train to stop at the station at times.
I determine the times. Strategically. Most bang for my buck times.
Recently a family here had a house fire. I was the thrid or fourth one to arrive after it became known. I brought an envelope of cash. Not a stupendous amount but what I thought would help. As the house where they were temporarily staying filled with JWs I quietly moved my way (through hellos and hugs etc) out to my car to leave.
One of the more mouthy of the corrupt 3 elders in our Hall was standing nearby. He said "you dont want to attend meetings but your always showing up to be "helpful".
I ignored that and opened my car...
then he pushed his luck to far and said " you think your some type of Robin Hood"
to which I replied, "then does that would make you the sheriff of Nottingham"?
And I drove off.
Gotta love those moments when they just fall in your lap like that.
My point is there is now one right way to do this. You determine your course and try your best not to make emotional decisions but strategic ones instead.
Be kind. Be smart. Do it your way.
