well, last monday my mother, a jehovah's witness since her baptism in 1968 died last week because she would not accept a blood transfusion.
she was 76 and had lung and skin cancer.
i know that the cancer would have gotten her anyway, but she was bleeding internally, and was told that she needs a blood transfusion, as her blood count went all the way down to 3.2 (should be 12-14.
Im so sorry rb.
Wishing you peace of mind and the comfort of knowing many of us care deeply.
i was reading in another forum, that a letter to the elders instructed them to speak to anybody who persists in wearing tight pants.
if changes don't happen then the instructions are to disqualify him from being a publisher but it won't be announced to the congregation.
i am am curious to see if this letter will surface.
What is it they are really afraid of?
It cant be homosexuality...is it following trends?
What exactly is behind this ridiculous?
If they really believe its "bunker time" why are they worried about this?

This is not a picture of me but it IS a picture of my haircut....too short, shaved in the back,
therefore I cannot go out in field service!
have you all noticed the obsession witnesses have of putting jw.org on all their social media sites like facebook, twitter, instagram etc?.
so many put it in their bio section...like some sort of loud proclamation to other witnesses that they are righteous and spreading the message.. it's also very lazy.
now with no personal effort at all, they can just say jw.org and be "witnessing".
Have any of you seen the big JW semi that is making the rounds on everyones facebook?
It seems that the buttons are just one part of a growing materialistic "look at what we have" movement in JW land.

Im glad to see so many posters picking up on the "no field service" part of that letter.
This is really a huge change from Headquarters being introduced quietly.
Once, a sister here who was DFd was going out in service on her own. The service desk was called and the elders here were told there was nothing to that could be done about her going out in service on her own, Since she was still dedicated and baptized, that was her right. But not to work with her or support her in anyway since she was not a member of the congregation while DFd.
That has been the official position for years.
This new stand of disallowing field service based on grooming is really opening a can of worms.
Whats next? Annulling baptism?
Because by their own "rules" isnt a person required to preach if they are baptized? So if there are provisos on that how does it get determined?
If it can be taken away, how is it given back? What is the protocol exactly?
Is it up to elder whims?
Yep, can of worms has been opened.
im in the process of drifting out.
my entire family are jw's.
my wife and her family are too.
with the news these past days that bethels in both rome and belguim are being closed does anybody know how many bethels are left worldwide?

great article...chinese were brewing beer 5,000 years ago.... not bad considering it's not far off adam & eve... :).
.. .. chinese drinkers may have been brewing beer as many as 5,000 years ago, new research suggests.. us and chinese researchers say they found traces of barley, millet, grain, and tubers used in fermentation.. it was found on pottery discovered in shaanxi province in northern china during an archaeological dig 10 years ago.. it would be the earliest known instance of beer-making in china and suggest a sophisticated approach.. published in the us proceedings of the national academy of sciences, the study also suggested that barley may have been used for booze before being used for food.. as every home-brewer knows, funnels are an essential piece of kit.
in october of 2000, i faded away from the watchtower.
like most people, i have family and friends who are jw's (including my wife and parents).
fading is generally the best method for people in that situation.
This is an incredible post.
A truly cerebral look at how to fight the Watchtower and win with minamal collateral damage and win.
I suspect they secretly love it when people go all ragey and fire off on them. It makes them look like true prophets and cements their position with still in friends and family.
Indifference is their biggest worry and concern. You would strike fear in to the hearts of the GB if you had a big enough platform and could get this post out there.
