Pale E,
They dont have what they need for a judicial committee unless you want it.
She is only ONE witness to the alleged offense. They have to have two.
well, thats it folks.. my identity on here has been rumbled and reported to the elders.
someone, somehow, has figured out that im a member of this site and - rather than speak to me - has promptly reported me to the elders.
i just feel sad for my daughter.

To read what Pale Emperor wrote wouldnt this "person" have had to join?
i want a t-shirt.
something that says "religion is crap, i don't care which one".. i was thinking of adapting the "coexist" one to say "toxic" instead which is great because it removes 'science' but includes all the major world religions.. anyone else have any ideas?.
also a tag-line ... "whatever god you worship, he's a weirdigan".
I like the idea of using the classy line from "Imagine"
my story in a nutshell... .
scientist for a father; extremely mentally ill, 'annointed' mother.
was privy to and also suffered a lot of abuse.
I already like your sense of humor....watching people run from the vantage of a nice comfy sofa indeed! (Im in!)
I shall call you "undub" as I like that one and you gave me a choice. :>)
Welcome to the forum, Im glad you are here!
i'm wondering why believers remain members of this forum which is clearly hostile to believers.
as one member said, nonbelievers pounce on any semblance of belief like piranhas on prey.
as former jws we should have had our fill of judgmental know-it-alls, but here we are.
I dont think anyone needs to leave, certainly not you David_Jay!
I think we either need to accept that
a) as a forum we are not capable of having conversations where there is some type of bridge between the two camps and just live with it
or
b) decide we really want (as a forum) to have those conversations and make the necessary adjustments to do so.
I love this place and have a wonderful time here and I am not an atheist at this point in time. I havent had enough fresh JW free air to know what I am yet. I am trying to figure that out.
i was raised in the cult, a 'golden boy' in jw about 15 years ago.
regular pioneer, went to pioneer school and then mts.
my dad is a gilead graduate and is still a serving elder.
That was excellent. Thank you for sharing it. I really liked the way you handled such a sensitive topic with such a calm approach.
i know that some people on the board have experience of being mormons, so i would be interested in your feedback.
at church this afternoon it was an uncanny experience.
in the past i've read a lot about mormons, so i thought i was prepared in general for what it would be like.
Slimboyfat,
Interesting observations. I had similar ones when I attended a Seventh Day Adventist group for a while (I wrote about it on this forum back in 14)
I was very impressed with the equality between men and women in regards to church lead activities.
One difference I noticed between the 7thDay Adventists and both Mormons and JWs is they highly value education. There were many there with PhDs both men and women.
The LDS allow for education but still heavily promote big families and homemaking as a godly career choice for women and girls. As for JWs, well we know what they do...
my name is tatersalad.
i have been disassociated for about six years now.
i have moved past most of my jw issues, but i feel like it would be cool to get to know others like myself.
Hi Tater!
Nice to meet you!
i just wanted to take a minute to say "hi" and welcome to the site for anyone who's come here from jwr.
i can imagine the site being shut down suddenly was shocking and unsettling for many who relied on it and sometimes you don't realize how much you do rely on something until it is gone.. hopefully you'll see some of the same familiar names appearing and be able to reconnect with people you knew via this site and continue your journey together.
i don't know what the posting policies on jwr were but know it as a moderated site so can't imagine them being hugely different to the ones here.
Good one Vidiot!

Hi Believer!
I came here as the walking wounded. I went through a traumatic event in my congregation involving some corruption that went higher up than I first realized. While still active I knew I had to find some balance to my thoughts that I simply was not getting in the religion itself. They created a need and couldnt fill it, so I went looking and ended up here.
If I had to categorize myself between only the two categories of believer/atheist, then I would be forced to default to believer at this point.
I say forced because I try to avoid categories and definitions like that because I find them limiting to the discovery process.
Finding out the JWs do not have the market cornered on any "truth" whatsoever was the worst moment for me. Having survived that, if I find out there is no God, that wont be near as difficult as what has already happened and I am completely open to where the road takes me.
There are some of the nicest (and wisest) posters here who are atheists. They are very kind and gentle and even if some are not as tactful as one might wish, they are fair minded if you are respectful in how you treat them.
That said, I do find it extremely difficult to carry on conversations on the topic of atheism or theism on this board. I did start to notice most of the negativity (as to conversing) is carried out by the few not the many.
Keep reading and you will be able to see for yourself who is sincere in what they believe (athteism, agnostic or anything else for that matter) and who has a "platform" or agenda they are pushing.
I dont click on their threads and when they insert themselves in to a thread I stop reading it and go elsewhere.
My reason for handling it this way is I think about the saying someone here coined "their JW is showing". My apologies to whoever said that - I cant remember.
But basically what it means to me is IF someone is dogmatic, rude or insists their way is the only possible right way, then they have a personality thing going on not a belief thing. I have no time for that - I am searching for truth and accuracy, not looking to be someones disciple!
There is a well known song with a line that says, "take what you need and leave the rest..."
That is a way to benefit from a forum without getting bruised by it if you are new and until you find your footing and your place in the community,
I hope you stick around and keep posting Believer, its really nice to have you here.
