Remote Translation Offices (RTO) of Jehovah's Witnesses
by Brokeback Watchtower inwhat do you think about these things.
it seems like a monumental waste of time and money, a pipe dream of the governing body based on wishful thinking.
this corporation is going down the tubes with these asshole deluded genius's calling the financial investment shot.. buying chemical dump property around the world to build their financial empire headquarters on while facing massive child molestation lawsuits now and many more in the future means it looking kind of bleak for these messed idiots running things.. http://jw-branchoffices.blogspot.com/p/watchtower-remote-translation-offices.html.

Thanks for the answer darkspilver!
Where would I expect them to put it?
Honestly, I dont see why it couldnt be done in a closet. Or a basement. Or on a plane while traveling. Well, maybe not that last one LOL
The point being, I dont see why they cant do all of this at headquarters. All it takes is a computer to transmit data.
There is no need to buy an entire building for translating one language to another.
Look at how the U.N. does it. Lots of language flowing in and out there. No need to have an expensive property in Florida.

Reason's why it is so difficult to leave
by Truthexplorer in1. concerns about the effects it would have on yours and your family's social life.. 2. fear of being shunned.
3. the stress it will cause.
4. the thought of feeling isolated.

Thats a great list. Im sure all of us relate to some of the concerns you listed.
I am doing a very slow fade. I employ several JWs and so far i is going well. My last meeting was Memorial but if I have a reason to go to the KH I will.
I can see why the structure and routine are important to you. I tend to chafe at structure and routine so for me it is a relief to let that go.
Once I was "awake" I spent some time observing the JWs who seem to thrive. Not the leaders or super achievers - they seem miserable and/or artificially happy. I was more intrigued by the ones who seem to be content and at ease.
The one thing they all had in common is they are using the religion as it suits them. They do the parts they want and dont do the parts they dont want to.
I guess its like the song says "Take what you need and leave the rest..."

The Canadian Branch Bethel worked with he hospital ethics committee and legal team to formulate the "Letter of Understanding ".
I know of a case where it was used in Florida (U.S.).
I guess there is a difference in them promoting it and sharing it with parents and them reluctantly letting it exist.
I love seeing the word spread about this letter!
As for the Org, they are helpless to defend their own indefensible position.

Got my JC cancelled... (at least for now)
by Sanchy inso my wife and i have been in the process of fading for a few months now as per my original post here.
about a week ago, i was browsing some ex-jw facebook groups when i saw a post that linked to the crisis of conscience book.
i said "f@(k it" and hit share on it.. a few hours later, i get a long text letter from my mom (who was a fb friend of mine) telling me the typical "good luck finding friends in the world" and how we have "nothing in common anymore"; basically, it was a 'farewell' text.

You did a good job Sanchy.
I firmly believe in the right of each of us to end this "unholy union" the Org has forced us in to, in whatever way is best for us as an individual.
The biggest support I can give you is to tell you that.

Not too my son...
by The Rebel inwill i say " orlando, your hair is too long, and needs to be cut short" and never will i say " orlando, invites to birthday parties can't be accepted".
and i will buy my son books he wants to read, books that bring him happiness, and that he understands.
and by so doing, i hope he will acquire happy memories of his childhood, so that the sensitive and delicate, in him will be allowed to grow.

Lucky Orlando!
Among their many "war crimes" perhaps the most pervasive one is the way the Org comes between parents and their natural parenting style.
Normal life with its small mistakes and opportunities for learning from such is displaced with an abnormal arrangement where a child is supposed to think about "what would Jehovah want...what would Jehovah think...you must please HIM".
Thats a heavy illusion to lay on a child. As a Witness, a parent is taught its a "superior" way of thinking.
If the proof is in the pudding, the rate at which children leave the religion once they can, shows the real truth of the matter.

Well done on the phone call with them Sanchy!
My only advice would be to secretly tape your meeting Thursday night.
They will say or do something that violates Watchtower protocol and you will have further material to slow their roll.

Explaining JW Beleifs To Non JW's
by pale.emperor inmy new girlfriend asked me over dinner last night what jw's believe.
as i sat there explaining it i realized how ridiculous it sounds and was slightly embarrassed that i used to believe this crap for 31 years.. try and read this and imagine hearing it for the first time.... me: well... jw believe that god's name is jehovah and that his son is jesus christ.
they believe that jesus died on a stake and not a cross and that in the year 1914 he personally chosen the jw's as his one true religion.

And dont forget the gathering together to stare at a plate of bread and glass of wine.
This is the most sacred event of the year.
