Today is my first "Shunniversary"
by dubstepped ini just wanted to thank this community for being there during my most difficult period of life.
even if it wasn't a direct interaction, i was reading, and i've taken away a lot over the past year plus.
on september 2 of last year the local congregation announced that my wife and i were no longer jehovah's witnesses because we chose to disassociate.

"in it, the religious group states that "rejecting homosexuality" is completely different to "rejecting people of a different skin colour" and says their views are the same as people who "view smoking as harmful and even repugnant".it also compares gay people to animals, but says "unlike animals, they can choose not to act on their impulses".the journal was contacted by a reader, who wishes to remain anonymous, who felt "belittled" by the leaflet.

I think that is where the whole hatred for "metro" is coming from and the tight pants and colored sock "issue" etc.

I dont think the message is for the public.
They have a "problem" in the Org (in their own opinion) and this is how they are trying to address it.
I know several people who are non practicing gay people (is that a socially appropriate term? I am not sure?) In my awareness they are tremendously popular with the "flock" and are cutting edge successful in the old dreaded world career wise also.
Its a small but growing threat from within I think.

where have the demons gone?
by aboveusonlysky indoes anybody remember some of the sensational demon stories jw's would tell back in the day?
i was a kid in the early 80's and i remember a few times hearing of people having real life encounters with demons.
for example, one sister claimed that before she became a jdub she would regularly talk to demons and they would even fix stuff like her washing machine!

My hypothesis? The numbers are down. These people are not coming in to the JW religion anymore. Kingdom Halls are filled with 2nd and 3rd generations of born-ins who don't know of anything else. Those who started the stories either left, died, or are too old and have stopped passing them on. No new people from the general public, no new ghost stories. No ghost stories, then no "demons," because to Witnesses all ghosts are "demons."Interesting and well thought out reply.
In addition, OrphanCrow is correct when she says that this was being promoted from the leadership through print.
Could it be like the stories of folks being kidnapped by aliens (which are also decreasing) that have severely dropped now that there are cell phones that could actually record the event?

60th Anniversary today - I was baptized 9-01-56
by Bonnie_Clyde in60th anniversary – i was baptized 9-1-56 .
my parents weren’t witnesses at the time, but my witness uncle studied with my brother and i. i think the only reason my parents let him was because my brother was having mental issues and were hoping it would help him.
my father surprised me a few years later, started studying and was baptized in 1961, later appointed an elder.

by Gorbatchov ingorby has had a personal paradigm shift lately.. from one point to an other i "feel" and "think" different about the jw subject.. - no more interest in doctrine.
- no more interest in things that happen 100 years ago into an religion.. - no more taking statements too serious.
it doesn't matter me at all what a generation doctrine change is all about, it doesn't matter me at all that brother elder said "blablabla boe!".

No blood Cards are back??????
by dugout inat the meeting last night, at the annoucments at end of meeting they said make sure u take your ped card.
i said to myself what is a ped card?
blood cards are back.

The cards had become a completely downplayed thing for a while now.
In the meantime, they changed the wording of how to handle someone who takes blood in their elders manual.
They have downplayed it.
So now they are up-playing the cards again?

My Recent Escape
by compound complex inmy recent escape from a home beloved was of sheer and unqualified necessity.
my people and i have been overtaken by a scorpion race of alien malefactors whose intent towards us is not one of beneficent intervention, but that of utter conquest.. if it were only the mere subjugation of a weaker species, we might have acquiesced, although begrudgingly.
however, the terrifying reality enjoined upon us proved to be the conquerors' brusque insistence that their insatiable hungers be satisfied with our quailing flesh.
