...it looks like a generic, easy to sell barn hall.. https://youtu.be/eqwrfhbbqwy.
nothing like the old hall it's built next to.. the small room in the video is the indoctrination education center.. the building is completed one year ahead of schedule.
my guess: it's either much simpler than they originally planned, and/or they had more volunteers because nothing else is being built.. video is dutch, but nothing interesting is said anyway..
Yes, I saw the Org sign and thought the same as you did yodastar.
That is one thing that seems to transcend all other things with them these days.

Thank you for posting this video Anders. I like being able to see what is going on all over the world.
I was surprised the floors in the auditorium were not carpeted. The chairs also seemed more on the lower end side as to price.
I dont know if that is the style of public building there or if this is new?
You mentioned it is nothing like the old one so I am thinking maybe this is the new look of things to come.
i am of the opinion that the wt doctrine is influenced more by external factors that it is by internal ones.
one of the doctrines that has puzzled me for some time is the armageddon prediction of 1975. why would the wts make this prediction?
what was their real purpose?.
OrphanCrow7 minutes agoMad Freddy?
Nope, It isn't one of my pet subjects. I just stumbled upon this while looking for something else.
My pet subject is blood. As high as the horses' bridles
I think freddo is referring to Fred Franz obsession with the date of 1975.

ok folks not a jw.lol but it would add some excitement at the assembly..
I like the way the man doing the baptizing didnt stress out about the kids impetuousness.
Unlike the stern JWs who measure to make sure a toe didnt stick out or it doesnt count and they re- dunk you.
besides being raised in the religion , why do people become jws?
.
A lot of us were born in to it no doubt.
To think about converting, I guess the love bombing would be a powerful tool?
i found this little jem this morning .
it's a little dated but describes the self-proclaimed jesus of nazareth by the name of a.j miller.
he was raised in the jw religion and was also an elder and pioneer.
I think this guy was told "you look just like Jesus" one to many times....
(not that Jesus would have even looked like the non Jewish guy popularized in the mainstream art work)
i was thinking about how many of us here are either being shunned or know someone who is being shunned.
although highly unlikely, it would be wonderful if this horrible practice was completely eliminated.. i know we have the wt victims memorial day in the summer, but does anyone know of any grassroots sort of movement to have a jw break the silence day on shunning?
we could encourage and promote for all jw's who have a df'd friend or family member to contact that person on that day--maybe even with the excuse that they need to check on them.. i know that it won't demolish the shunning policy, but at least a day like this could shed some light on the harmful practice to those outside the jw community as well as providing an unofficial designated day for jws to reach out to those they're shunning.
Its a great idea but would involve mercy and a sense of kindness.
Not really part of the JW religious model.
Maybe they could do it in a city of refuge?
(there was more kindness then)
it seems like many feel hurt or saddened by the practice of shunning by witnesses.. yes, when ones who we were close to, perhaps family or ones we thought were close friends choose to follow the warped directions of the society, it may seem hurtful.. but really, our reaction is up to us.
the fact is, these ones have shown that in reality, their love for us was never real or genuine.
no, those relationships were superficial and lacking in substance.
As has been said in various ways above, we are herd animals anthropologically speaking.
Being cut off from the tribe could mean death in days gone by.
Recognizing this is a hard wired primal response, man has come up with ways to use it. Solitary in prison usually gets the desired result. Religions do it with shunning.
The bright side is that we can recognize it as a basic human response and take steps for our own well being.
Making friends, talking about our feelings about the entire experience, educating ourselves are all tools.
This forum is one of those tools that is an antidote for the bad medicine the Org is attempting when it practices shunning.
