(Young) Personal Experience of Leaving JW as a Baptised Brother
by hongkong123 ini was a baptised brother born in a jw family with my dad as the elder.
i left (or fade) a year ago and i am still a student studying in college.
i would like to post something here since i have quite a complicated feeling after a year out.

I appreciate "our" free speech.
by The Rebel ini had given serious consideration too leaving the board.
i rationalised my views on " muslims" we're not held by the majority so i should leave.
but this would have been wrong thinking, instead i should appreciate the platform i was given to debate with free speech.

(I'm sorry the hate filled rhetoric stops me having dialogue with the more reasonable members here.)
It doesnt.
I am reasonable.
I am your friend.
I am here.
The only thing that can possibly stop a dialogue between you and me is either you or me.
((you know I love you))

Wanting Less Involvement (long newbie story)
by DepthsResounding ini was raised a jw and am currently pioneer in a foreign language congregation.
i have been unhappy on and off with my involvement in this religion and am ready to step back again.
growing up i was always active but extremely reserved and a low hour publisher.

Whats in it for them?
by Moster ini have been out for nearly 40 years now - baptized at 14 (although not to the org), but faded away.
but i am wondering about this:.
aside from the obvious power they wield, what's is in it for the gb?

I was at a summer convention just after the "tight pants" speech and the same GB member, Tony ( is his last name Morris?) was about to give the last talk of the day. He started by announcing that the Chairmans office wanted him to tell the "friends" there was a bad storm cell approaching with heavy lightning and to please remain in the safety of the auditorium for the next hour while the bulk of the storm passed.
Then he "jokingly" said and I am paraphrasing here
I cant actually stop the lightning friends, that would have to be my big brother that could do that (looking upward and obviously meaning Jesus) I will be able to one day - but not yet
and then chuckling as though he was being amusingly tongue in cheek.
I was stunned. So inappropriate
even if he does believe himselfbut most of the audience (not all) obligingly chuckled right along with him.Sickening.

I know its hard but try to keep things from snowballing if you can, at least in your mind and heart.
Dont worry for now about the kids being brainwashed. You mentioned school and kindergarten so they are getting good socialization there.
JWs have a terrible retention rate even when both parents try hard. Your kids will (statistically speaking) move away from this religion all on their own shortly.
I know opinions are a dime a dozen but I SO like the idea of locking your man cave. If a key lock seems to obvious, get a combination lock....either way!

I pioneered for 9 years straight. It is HARD.
There is a chance she will find herself a way to wiggle out of this very soon.
I hope that is of some comfort!

How can angels be sexually attracted to women?
by Island Man inthe nephilim account in genesis is utterly ridiculous when you consider that angels are sex-less beings and would therefore lack sex-drive and romantic attraction.
think of how difficult it is for humans with a sex drive to be sexually attracted to animals.
now take away that sex drive and it becomes literally impossible.

Island Man I really like your point about why all the care to be re-productively similar to humans if all the angels wanted was carnal knowledge.
The best source (for me) to put these Bible stories in to a rational context has come from listening to lectures by Jordan Peterson.
Basically the ancient stories of Gods coming to earth the make half Gods and effect human society is found everywhere. Pagan mythology, the Bible, everywhere.
We still use it today in our own movies and literature. It is a theme that never grows old to us apparently.
