Above the Fog, Below the Snow
by compound complex ini live in the sierra nevada foothills of california; a selling point for prospective homeowners in the slightly lower elevation is what is touted in the subject title.
well, right now we are being blasted by a storm barreling down from canada, with hazardous driving and blizzard conditions in the offing, higher up.. as to fog, this photo offers a rare display of misty conditions over our lake, that after the last major rain storm.
it reminds me of summer days of my youth on the pacific coast..

The way you described your connection that you felt with this guy in the opening post sounds as though you think what you have with him is magical.
I think you will follow it based on that and you will be severely hurt.
I wish you could run away but that would take more control than most people have.
I am so sorry for you because I can see the ending and it is going to be bad.
I know this post sucks. Reality can be so very harsh

Im Writing An Ex-JW Self Help Book
by pale.emperor inwe all know waking up from the cult and trying to leave is a very scary and life changing experience.
for many it's traumatic and few find the transition easy.
we have to deal with families cutting us off entirely or keeping us at arms length at best, lies being told about us by the organization, ex members gossiping about us and finding ourselves in a world very different from what we're prepared for.. for this reason, i've decided to start writing a self-help book informing jws of what to expect when they leave the org.

Did You Ever Find The Theolgy of JWs Reasonable?
by minimus inwhen i was a young man growing up in the religion, i would try to defend whatever the understanding of a doctrine was.
i won a lot of arguments based on the idea that i knew better than anyone i was talking to and defended myself admirably.
(lol)....eventually, i realized i was in a cult but for many years i was a believer and i had faith that the gb knew more that i could understand..

I always felt intuitively that the doctrine was incredibly strict.
I would look at nature (human and animal) and see such a relaxed and accepting way about things. It was always hard to rationalize that the Creator of that was the same one originating all the harsh and exacting rules of the Org.
That was the biggest problem for me. Such a contrast. It seemed there were two different personalities, from the way life appeared and the way JWs described God and what he wanted from mankind, with all the attention to little tiny rules.

Marriage Proposal in the Kingdom Hall
by Listener injust when you think you've seen it all comes another interesting use of a kingdom hall.a young man serenades his girlfriend with a song (possibly a watchtower song) from the stage through a microphone and backed by recorded music.
then he steps off the stage and gets down on one knee and proposes as he pulls out a ring from his coat pocket.
the large projector screen flashes up behind them with a picture of a sapphire and diamond ring.cameras capture the joyous moment as she accepts and they lock together in a loving hug.

I think that is the point Steve,
No one wishes the young couple anything but the best but the double standard of what the Kingdom Hall can be used for and not used for strikes a chord in any of us who grew up under the super strict rules of music and behaviors allowed in the Hall.

Nice that they felt free to throw in some Mendelssohn there in the Kingdom Hall.
That would have never been allowed just a few years ago.

Blood Issue.......something for thought, where is the logic.
by CovertsadJW ini have yet to read about the contradictions in the jw teachings on blood, but i have personally witnessed one.
i am a medical professional and have seen hemopure administered for an active jw who did refuse a blood transfusion.
its not fda approved here, but given in special life saving circumstances.

OrphanCrow
The WT's HIS direct JW patients into clinical trials for blood substitutes. And, when the trials are halted, and that blood product is sitting in "unapproved" status, the JWs come in handy in keeping that product in production as a "compassionate use" drug. "Refusal of blood for religious reasons" is the catch phrase that keeps Hemopure on the market. The JW patient is quite valuable to the companies that develop blood alternatives.
JWs have been guinea pigs for products such as Fluosol-Da and Hemopure, etc
By the way, did you know that Hemopure is basically the same as Oxygent, the blood substitute that has been approved for veterinarian use? The JW patient gets blood that is used for dogs. The JW patient is the next step up from animal testing. That is a very powerful (and disgusting) point coming from the organization who calls itself so clean and pure isnt it?
Thank you for sharing that. I can use that with my family.

Intact red blood cells are forbidden
Polymerized hemoglobin preparations are permitted regardless of the source of the hemoglobin. Thanks for the information. So what is it about "polymerizing" that nakes the red blood cell no longer intact?
I am trying to understand how the Org justifies and reasons on this.

Good work Pale!
You never were over reacting. You were reacting.
There will be many times in life you have to be your daughters advocate in one way or another. You have shown yourself more than equal to the task!
