  Quick hello and recent baby pic.

  Common phrases which are disappearing during my lifetime

  many common phrases i've used all my life have been made obsolete by technology advancements.

  "roll up the window" (car windows don't roll up any longer with a hand crank.).

  "hold your horses.

  Handle with kid gloves

  (Gloves used to be made of young goat - very soft leather)

  A stitch in time saves nine

  (Does anyone sew/repair clothing still?)

  Put that on the back burner

  (another microwave casualty, who uses all the burners on a stove now?)

  Hot off the press

  (Digital printing and instant communication make this one self explanatory)

  My JW Elder Brother Passed Away

  he was basically a good man, just a believer in the religion.

  when we were both elders we were best of friends and then things deteriorated when i was not an elder for a while.

  then after becoming an elder again, i slowly drifted away from the religion and he drifted further away from me.

  how do jws (rank and file) know when to commence shunning the victim of an internal judicial proceeding ?

  what direction does the elders manual give to start the congregations participation in shunning?

  when did you most recently see this process initiated in a hall you attend?.

  Long ago they used to announce what you were disfellowshipped for.

  If it was smoking - they said so.

  Then when that became legally hazardous they changed it to

  "So and so is disfellowshipped for conduct unbecoming a Christian"

  when that got challenged they changed it to where it is today.

  I think that because you "joined" when you got baptized, they are on terra firma legally to announce you are no longer part of the "group".

  At least that is the way it was explained to me.

  Did You Ever Luke ANY Songs From The “Songbook “?

  No. That song is there in the new songbook. It song No 52, Christian Dedication

  Does it still sound the same or did they bugger it all up like they did others?

  I dont know...do the Mormons still use their look a like Caleb and Sophia?

  They both sprang up with clone kiddie cartoons within a year of each other,

  There was an interesting thread here about the fact that maybe the Jws and the LDS were using the same consulting service to rev up sluggish followers.

  I liked the one they used to play at Memorial.

  Cant remember the name of it.

  It had the line

  "Because Jehovah created the universe so grand, to him belong the earth and sky, the works of his own hand,"

  It talked about the Israelites crossing through the sea and so on ,

  I thought it was pretty and kind of gave a timeline.

  Of course, they got rid of it.

  The songs now are so inane and people just kind of mumble and stumble along.

  What was it about that time period that spawned so many of these types?
