Money! How much did you "Contribute" To The WTB@TS When You Were A Member
by The Bethelite ini was in full time service for six years including bethel.
once i got out of bethel, i figured i had already given them six of the best years of my life (ages 18-24) working as a slave/drone in their factory, so i rationalized that i had given them enough... so over the next 27 years i would say maybe $200 bucks is it.
i think their whole "voluntary contributions" idea is biting them in the ass, because over all jehovah's witnesses are a cheap group people with a few exceptions.

by minimus injackie kennedy was considered the most beautiful for years.

Don't count on witnessing Watchtower's demise anytime soon.
by Roger Kirkpatrick inthe fact that there are pomi ex-jws who have been disfellowshiped or inactive for years who still live in constant fear of armageddon indicates that watchtower will manage to exist in one way or another for years, if not decades, to come.
watchtower, like all other religious cults, operate on the premise that "you can fool some of the people all of the time...and that's enough!

Thank you Rub a Dub. I see why it is so hard to get an accurate accounting of true membership.

If You Could Live In Any Era or Decade What Would It Be?
by minimus ini kind of like the 50’s and early 60’s because of the innocence and “happy days” outlook by that generation.
it seems most people were pretty innocent and real.. would you rather be living in a different era or is this century working for you?

When I was ten I informed my Mother I wanted to live at the big county Library .
Now with the internet I'm good.
Ha, I loved this answer!
For myself, I think each time period had its checks and balances. For example the purer food and water of yesteryear meant less medical advances etc.
Given that, I would pick now with the following provisos
Eat pure food
Live close to nature
Those would be the checks (the easy part)
Challenge your body to the extreme
Challenge your mind and emotions to the extreme
Those would be the balances (the challenging part)
Avoiding constant temperature control by experiencing true cold and heat.
Not taking a pill for every symptom
Building your own home or if thats too ambitious, a chicken coop!
Trimming the "fat" that dulls the senses such as social media, constant cell phone and internet. I guess I would also include most news outlets, and what passes for entertainment in USA (the only country Im familiar with).
Really as I think about it, NOW is the only time that would allow a person to pick, choose and customize a life based on all that has come before.
Confession: I am writing this while sitting in an air-conditioned home after eating a more than substantial lunch and while browsing the internet. Soft easy living much? I suspect so.

I have a question.
When a person is baptized they are added to the number of 8,000,000.
When a person is DFd does the Org subtract them from that same number or not?

Staying a Jehovah's Witness
by lriddle80 inwhy the shunning if someone leaves?

Anytime you have a very exclusive group - you must keep them bunched up and tightly huddled or you get diversity.
The JW religion was formed at a time when they branded themselves as the "answer" to all the "problems" other religions had.
Thus, no holidays, no cross, special name for God, neutrality, etc. This made them seem much more "otherworldly" and Jesus like and as though they alone were the keepers of a higher standard.
That has an appeal to certain people. The "we are Gods chosen people" rhetoric starts at birth and most JWs firmly believe it. They have disdain for and pity and even a form of "love" for the unwashed masses that exist outside of their exclusivity.
They don't mind if you join, in fact, they actively proselytize, The exclusivesness is not determined by numbers but by everyone adhering to the tight rigid path.
To leave is similar to going AWOL from the Army.

A warm welcome to the many newbies who have joined and posted these past months .
by smiddy3 init is truly heartwarming to see so many new ones sign up to this site as most of us know it can be quite stressful at first ,because of the indoctrination we have all gone through in going on apostate sites .. the guilt ,paranoia ,fear , apprehension ,even being a judas fear, all unnatural fears put on us by a mind controlling cult.. that wants us to be captives of there religious interpretations about the bible.. however this and other sites like it are the only way we can find out about {the truth about the truth} ttatt.. welcome everybody..

Did you ever thought this?
by Theonlyoneleft inso.. you are a jw or studying, living your life and doing your bit, feverish of spreading the good news to everyone that will listen!.
you prep yourself for meetings, doing your ministry and applying all that there is into your daily life.. so....i have a question... you know... my clogs.
when you where completely in the religion, did you ever think about the impact of your way of life and religion towards others, specially those that lived around you such as good friends or family members that didn’t studied?

I always thought I was "fair and very balanced" in the way I treated my non believing relatives when I was a JW.
It was a very sobering moment when after I told them I had left the JWs they said "Oh good we have you back!"
Obviously, I did a terrible job of being so "balanced" with my poor family.
We are making up for lost time now!

More fear-mongering in Nov. 2019 WT
by neat blue dog infirst of all, there's a new imaginary picture of jws during the great tribulation:.
then there's a picture of a jw family refusing to listen to "apostate lies" via pre-programed, self imposed information control:.
the description says:.
