I love Leonard Cohen's music - that song (Hallelujah) especially.
I think in its original form it has many verses that are not commonly sung.
It's a hard song to sing and not very many can really do it justice.
i admit i have a soft spot for leonard cohen's music.
i had a customer come in who sings for funerals, he just told me his most requested is cohen's "hallelujah".
a good friend used to sing it at christmas in her church!

my uber cousin and wife are going back to wallkill this weekend for the annual meeting since they have a daughter and son in law in the inner sanctum so they are always invited.
cousin said it was going to be broadcast from patterson to wallkill.
anyone hear anything else about subject matter etc?.
I forgot it was that time of year!
Check your socks everyone!
i’ve been out for many many years.
i still like to know the latest jw news although i find myself not as excited by things..
I always read it so I can marvel at what a bunch of busywork it all is.
i know there are several posts about witnesses and non-witnesses in regards to relationships.
i couldn’t find anything specifically that spoke to me, so i would love some third-party advice and thoughts.. i have never been someone to pursue a stranger from the internet.
earlier this year, i became friends with someone on a video game.
Hi BNG and a big hug to you on this tough day you're having.
I don't think being friends is in and of itself the risk. I think that shifting this intense relationship you've been having over into another category (the friend category) could mean it just slides back into its previous category.
One thing is for sure, time is your friend here.
Time apart, time to think, time to let the fires die down and so on.
As a complete side note, one thing about all of this I found strange was his parents acceptive response. I raised all my sons as JWs and now we have all left the religion except one son.
No JW parent who fancies themselves a good JW (and a good parent) would be cool with you and he having a relationship.
A "good" JW parenting response would be to warn him off the relationship using scriptures like "dont become unevenly yoked with unbelievers" and so on. If that failed and he kept the relationship going with a "worldly" (that would be you) person in spite of their pleading and guilt tripping and calling on elders in the congregation to do the same, then they would grudgingly accept it. All of that would take time.
In my experience, the less hard core JW parents come around because they love their kids, the extreme ones will shun them (there's a spectrum) but NONE of the JW parents I know would just rollover initially with a casual accepting attitude - especially with a 22 year old.
So that is puzzling to me.
Regardless, I feel for you and the pain you are in right now. Take good care of yourself emotionally and congratulations on being wise for your age.
i was in full time service for six years including bethel.
once i got out of bethel, i figured i had already given them six of the best years of my life (ages 18-24) working as a slave/drone in their factory, so i rationalized that i had given them enough... so over the next 27 years i would say maybe $200 bucks is it.
i think their whole "voluntary contributions" idea is biting them in the ass, because over all jehovah's witnesses are a cheap group people with a few exceptions.
Too much
jackie kennedy was considered the most beautiful for years.
melania trump is obviously an ex model.
michelle obama has been touted as a true beauty.
This is all proving beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder!
the fact that there are pomi ex-jws who have been disfellowshiped or inactive for years who still live in constant fear of armageddon indicates that watchtower will manage to exist in one way or another for years, if not decades, to come.
watchtower, like all other religious cults, operate on the premise that "you can fool some of the people all of the time...and that's enough!
".
Thank you Rub a Dub. I see why it is so hard to get an accurate accounting of true membership.
i kind of like the 50’s and early 60’s because of the innocence and “happy days” outlook by that generation.
it seems most people were pretty innocent and real.. would you rather be living in a different era or is this century working for you?
?.
When I was ten I informed my Mother I wanted to live at the big county Library .
Now with the internet I'm good.
Ha, I loved this answer!
For myself, I think each time period had its checks and balances. For example the purer food and water of yesteryear meant less medical advances etc.
Given that, I would pick now with the following provisos
Eat pure food
Live close to nature
Those would be the checks (the easy part)
Challenge your body to the extreme
Challenge your mind and emotions to the extreme
Those would be the balances (the challenging part)
Avoiding constant temperature control by experiencing true cold and heat.
Not taking a pill for every symptom
Building your own home or if thats too ambitious, a chicken coop!
Trimming the "fat" that dulls the senses such as social media, constant cell phone and internet. I guess I would also include most news outlets, and what passes for entertainment in USA (the only country Im familiar with).
Really as I think about it, NOW is the only time that would allow a person to pick, choose and customize a life based on all that has come before.
Confession: I am writing this while sitting in an air-conditioned home after eating a more than substantial lunch and while browsing the internet. Soft easy living much? I suspect so.

I have a question.
When a person is baptized they are added to the number of 8,000,000.
When a person is DFd does the Org subtract them from that same number or not?
a first time visit to a kingdom hall turned out to be a nightmare for this young lady.. .

Wonder where the surveillance cameras were located?
A neighboring property perhaps?
