  Are You Satisfied With The Way The News Media Acts?

  it would be a wonderful thing if the news media tried to exercise some fairness when they report the news or editorialize on a matter.

  if the news media does not stop showing bias, i would like to see sanctions of some sort on the cnn’s of the world.

  i really don’t think they can make the media fair but it would be nice..

  In order to have a free press .....here we are.

  The problem the media has is they were dying in terms of written print (magazines and newspapers) and in terms of over air major networks in the U.S.

  The pandemic and the U.S. election gave them a last ditch reprieve from extinction but rather than use that to build a more lasting future they have clutched it like a drowning victim. They have exploited the two events to the maximum degree possible while losing all credibility.

  Watching how they have handled their second shot at making it helps one to realize why they were failing in the first place.

  This is a horrendous crime and a scrupellous murder attempt.

  I hope very much that the 2 police officers survive it.

  I appreciate the simplicity of your statement but I have to ask: doesn't the society that produced those very specific killers (officers in uniform) deserve a look?

  What is it saying when someone kills a "uniform"? That is highly different psychology than a spree killer.

  As would be the killing of a woman (blinded by the uniform perhaps?)

  (as of 10 sep 2020) there's a new caleb & sophia cartoon in which the org puts into the minds of children the idea that celebrating a birthday will cause jehovah to not want to be your friend anymore.. https://www.jw.org/en/bible-teachings/children/become-jehovahs-friend/videos/trailer-jehovah-forgives/.

  can you imagine being 6 years old and thinking god himself is no longer your friend because you blew out a candle on a birthday cake or wished someone a happy birthday?.

  as bad as all this is, the birthday thing is just one of many jw rules that isnt even supported by scripure.

  It seems we had a thread about that once.

  The idea of using children, puppets or cute fuzzy animals to promote propaganda is an old one.

  many,many years ago i went into a florist shop and ordered a wreath and a sympathy card to be delivered to my home .the sales lady looked at me and saw that i wasn`t very old and offered her condolences to me .. i apologised to her and said oh no ,nobody`s died ,it`s just that my wife has been going off lately about her turning fourty ,so i thought i would commiserate with her by doing this.. on the other hand when i turned fourty i went out and bought myself a pair of ice skates ..

  Here in the U.S.there are cards and balloons and such that say "Lordy Lordy Look Whos Forty" and similar such sayings.

  she is a university graduated accountant, who i know has worked on various projects for wt around the world.

  my question is, with all the goings on in wt world, what must be going through her head.

  i just wanted to say hello.

  long story short, it was some things that happened one after another over a period of time, right until it was everything all at once.

  i guess the first domino was my second spiritual awakening, which tbh mostly had to do with impressing some of the brothers and one particular sister.

  Did you feel contempt for Non Witnesses

  the other day i went to this farm owned by this jw lady with my wife being a jw and my mother being a non witness.

  later taking to my mother she noticed this vibe like this jw lady really hated her.

  she just had these little slags like when we tried to pay for the fruit we picked , she looked directly at my wife and said " don't worry about it, i only charge wordly people ".. i also have this aunt who is a jw we are estranged from.

  To answer your question in the thread header - I did not feel contempt, I felt envious.

  If I am totally honest, I always felt a little jealous of the freedom to choose their path that "worldly" people seemed to have. At the same time, I felt I had "the truth" and with that came a feeling of superiority. I guess that looks and acts a lot like contempt doesnt it?
