Welcome Zomblisher,
I like your name.
Good post too!
anyone have any leaks on this three hour meeting we are having early november?.
.
.
I have no idea why this meeting is a big deal.
Of course, I still dont think what they have done so far is a big deal.
A TV channel?
Nope, not a big deal.
i just realized that all these dates that the borg have said the end would come on or by and then it didn't happen, have stumbled me.
why such a fascination and trying to divine the answer from scripture when scripture plainly says only the father knows the day and the hour?
by their predictions, they actually sent many christians on the path of date-based worship insted of faith-based worship.. if they have stumbled me, then who is reponsible for that?.
Since the ultimate answer to who stumbled you is going to be:
NO ONE
It is better for you if you just laugh, shake your head and move on.
That answer above? "No One"?
Is not really true by the way...
You were stumbled by a group who accept ZERO responsibility for anything negative.
But it is neither here nor there because their lack of responsibility (already bad) is getting worse!!
Lots of shell games now...moving around elders, hiding documents, putting hapless Circuit Overseers between themselves and their victims etc.
That is your validation that they were/are in the wrong.
So accept that gracefully (knowing you deserve more but it wont be coming) and go enjoy your life.
The good thing is you are now innoculated against stupid groups.
hi everyone, im begining to notice patterns of mental issues in the congregations and among the witnesses as a group.
do you think this is a trend in the entire world or is it exagerated in this organization?.
.
Mental and emotional health is a blend of ingredients.
A balance must be achieved.
There needs to be group responsibility and there needs to be individual expression.
JWs over emphasize the group part and totally squelch the indiviidualism.
Worse yet, this is done to many while they are still forming their core personality.
As a result, the adult witness is riddled with overblown feelings of community responsibility and an under developed sense of self. Especially where it comes to creative outlets and expression (too worldly) and the education of the mind (again, too worldly).
i am sure people convery to a religion to find peace and spiritual awakening.
i also bet many convert simply for love.
would you to assist " true love" if it required converting to a particular faith?.
A lot of marriages amongst royalty required this in days gone by.
I guess that was because the "church" and politics were so interwoven.
Today, most religions allow for nominal members.
If I loved someone who wanted me to have nominal membership I might do it.
But they would have to be very nominal themselves.
But that is because I now believe that all religions are basically alike and serve the same function in society.
The trick is to steer clear of famaticism or control by religion.
People should use religion not let religion use them.
At least that is what the smart folks appear to be doing.
It would have to be someone who felt that way about religion for me to even consider conversion.
i just discovered that the circuit assembly my family is attending tomorrow contains a symposium entitled:.
help others to seek jehovah's righteousness: those who have become inactive.
i poked around a bit on here and didn't find any comments about this.
Remember in the days of Esther when the Jews were allowed to arm themselves and fight back against the Kings decree?
That is what I think needs to happen here.
All inactive ones and/or faders need to tell any who come to "help" them exactly why they cant be "active".
It may be a story of judicial wrongdoing. It may be child abuse. It may be doctrinal.
Whatever, it really doesnt matter as long as it is authentic and from the heart.
I dont think the Society is prepared for this.
They arent expecting to have the drones put in to a real and heartfelt situation where they hear stories from actual lives that highlight the ineptness, the weak scriptural back up for doctrinal points etc.
This could potentially cause drones to run back to elders with anxiety and make the elders actually have to get off their paperwork and do some real work.
If enough did this, the backlash would keep this little suggestion from ever being mentioned at an assembly again!
sexual exploitation and abuse of six young children leads to lawsuit in dallas county.
dallas, oct. 23, 2014 /news.gnom.es/ six young adults, from north texas, all sexually abused as children, filed suit today in dallas, texas state court against three north texas jehovahs witnesses congregations (dallas, plano, and greenville), the watchtower bible and tract society of new york, and an elder.. sexually abused when they were ages 4 through 14, the plaintiffs were children of members of the dallas, plano, and greenville jehovahs witnesses congregations.
the suit states that they were repeatedly sexually abused and molested by an elder and an unknown regional circuit overseer, and that they and their families were threatened with discipline and harm if they disclosed the abuse to anyone.
What if the abuser mentioned is not a C.O. but a D.O.?
That would add some weight to why the D.O. arrangement went poof!
Of course, on the other hand, they are distancing themselves from C.O.s too so no telling what the thought is behind all this but I think we can all recognize running scared when we see it.
i see no logic in it.
i see what appears to be some scriptural contradictions but i see no merit in a trinitarian view of god.. .
.
Here is/was my theory on the Trinity concept back when I cared one way or another.
Satan wanted Jehovah and Jesus to share their prominence with him. He thought that up while liaisoning with Adam and Eve in the garden.
God and Jesus rejected his proposition.
So ever since, Satan has used the concept of worshipping a "group of 3" to show God and Jesus how great the concept is and how humans are readily accepting of the idea.
a working theory on why people so readily accept this unique and non logical concept with such fervor
when my son became baptized as a witness at age nine, it worried me that he could now get a no blood card.
i wanted to make sure if blood transfusions were really as disgusting to "jehovah" as i was taught.
i already found out some things about my beliefs that were not true, so it wasn't hard for me to be questionable about this.. i first looked in the reasoning book under blood as to why we don't accept transfusions.
There is an actual document the liason committee has now.
The purpose of that document is to keep the courts out of it.
So now all a parent has to do is sign that and everything proceeds.
No judge.
No court.
No problem.
I just switched computers and lost a lot of old info so I dont have my file on that form and what it is called.
edited to add the following:
It may be called a "Letter of Undersatanding"?
here is a look at where it got started just quickly checking google - there is much more current info if a person wants to look for it.

No Witness needs to worry about blood for their child anymore.
The Society has quietly changed that. There is a form now for parents that basically says they dont want blood for religious reasons but will leave it in the Dr's. hands.
This originated in Canada. An ethics committee which included Br's from the Canadian branch worked on the form. Canadian newspapers carried the story.
I first learned of this because of a baby in a local hall needing a complex surgery.
We had a thread here somewhere that mentioned the name of the form. Sorry I cant remember it.
