  as the title suggests, this is a topic thread for anyone's questions that have quick or one line answers.

  Dr Applewhite and Child Abuse

  i am shocked that an expert would simply examine only the literature given to her by the organisation she was defending and simply accept it.

  also the ease she has in making huge sweeping statements when comparing the jw's to all other international religious organisations simply undermines her professionalism.. i am also thoroughly shocked at her blatant, 'expert for hire', 'will defend anyone' apparent decision making, the organisation is responsible for covering up thousands of abuse victims by its own records, in australia alone!

  never mind their judicial process being heartless and traumatic!.

  Recently charges have been sought against Dr. Monica Applewhite for her prominent role in not reporting and covering up child abuse allegations. Along with Dr. Applewhite New Orleans Archbishop Gregory Aymond, Rev. Ed Chiffriller - Immediate Past Superior General of the Society of St. Joseph, and the General Council of the Society of St. Joseph.

  The black and white evidence is particularly disturbing especially in that Applewhite confirms in a letter that she received complaints, asked no questions or details and did no investigation of follow-up concerning the child abuse allegations reported to have taken place at a Catholic School by school administrators / teachers.

  how much do you want to bet that the organization has already started preparing articles for the watchtower magazines, convention talks, circuit overseers talks and letters to bodies of elders, to refute what is happening in australia?

  right now the most important thing for the wt to do is protect their image that they are gods visible organization.especially in the u.s. and latin american countries.

  I think they (the Almightly Org) take themselves extremely seriously.

  So I would imagine they take any negative publicity extremely seriously. After all they are

  Gods brethren, Jesus body, well lets just say it "god on earth" (in their minds).

  To the degree they "react" to this will be to the degree their disillusion is functioning.

  If they were smart (which they cant be because their ego is crowding out the room where intelligence would reside) they wouldnt react. Instead they would act.

  Something new and shiny, some bells and whistles that people can ohh and ahh over.

  another thing they could do, although this would be too shrewd and I dont think cooler heads will prevail to actually get it done...is to turn themselves in to a pedophile crushing machine. Saturate their literature, clean out their congs, form support groups and liason committees for the molested.

  In short, jump in front of things to such a degree that they act as though they invented pedophile protection for the world.

  You know, kind of the like the way they are acting like they invented web sites, television and the internet now?

  sorry if this has already been discussed, but,...besides, of course, a black eye on the org, what can come of this royal commission hearing legally or criminally?

  according to the rc's website:.

  "the royal commission holds formal public hearings to hear evidence about child sexual abuse within institutions.

  The truest statement in that report is "Jehovahs Witnesses are not unique"

  For Gods people on earth who are supposed to carry the identifying mark that Jesus spoke of, that statement itself is an indictment.

  Of course the Royal Commission didnt mean it that way but maybe some individual JWs somewhere will give pause and think about it.

  Sadly, I think this is only huge news to us who already have our eyes open.

  JWs as individuals are not paying much attention. The Org itself will make a few forced changes and life will go on.

  The only thing that will ever make a dent in the momentum of the Org is something financial. If this can have some kind of financial impact then maybe it will be more than just a black eye so to speak.

  We can hope so because black eyes heal. Once they do they are forgotten.

  in the posts about the australian royal commission there have been several references to discussions on jw-archive.

  i'd not heard of that site, so checked it out.

  it seems to be used by many active jws - its tumblr style archive is full of pictures of jws doing their thing.

  Im really glad this is hitting the news in some spots. There is nothing on the news in my area. Nothing on the networks or radio.

  No mention by any of the JWs

  nada.

  I can only hope this keeps spreading and gaining momentum as this is a huge reason for people to really get to know what the "Org." is really about.
