It would mean...
I TOLD YOU SO!!!!!
of course
let's pretend this might happen.
im not asking what it will mean for the jdubs or for the organization, but what will it mean for you---- if one day you wake up and the watchtower drops the 1914 doctrine.. (you know at some point they have to, but probably not our lifetime).
if you are disfellowshipped or disassociated and have been shunned by your parents, by your children, by you spouse or ex-husband/wife, for years or even less, will you call your relatives and ask/tell them;.
It would mean...
I TOLD YOU SO!!!!!
of course
i got a call from my mother-in-law the other day begging me to go to the hall this past sunday for a special talk.
i didn't go but was wondering what the deal is?
details please..
We did have a thread about the Watchtower study this past Sunday Tweetie.
Here ya go:
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/469160001/extreme-emotions-re-todays-watchtower
my name is jack and i'm looking for after death communications from the jehovah witness community.
an after death communication (or adc) is when a loved one sends a kind of message to this side of life after their death.
it can be a dream or smell (like perfume or roses that would be attached to them in memory) or a feeling of their presence.
Jack,
Hi, nice to meet you!
In addition to the comments above about Witness indoctrination, many, many people here are convinced there is no God of any sort.
You see the problem? No God --> no afterlife---> no experiences.
It is the rare person who believes in no spirit life whatsoever but believes in an after life for humans.
Einstein had a theory, not developed, before his death that all time exists at the same time.
One way it was explained is time being like a river. People are entering and exiting the river up and down it all the time. While you are on the river, you are only aware of yourself and those you come upon. Others who are days behind you or days ahead of you are on the same river at the exact time you are however.
Now this theory, if one believes in God or spirits could help explain some things...like foretelling the future and the past (divination/prophecy) and it could also explain attempts at communication I guess.
The continuum in which time flows, is measured, and exists is relative to what is known at the time a person lives.
Some people are satisfied with the world as it is known and explained in their lifetime. Others question and seek the parameters - it sounds like you are one of the latter perhaps?
i had a secret conversation with a dyed in the wool jw recently.. they told me that they felt that the organisation now was a different religion to the 'good old days' when knorr was the boss.
the books were more interesting.
the zeal was there.
last night i ran into a former elder friend, he is in his late 70s.
he asked how i was doing and i asked how he was doing.
then out of the blue he tells me; .
I think the reason some JWs are "ok" with the end not coming in their lifetime is because they werent signed on for the reward of the paradise to begin with.
Some are idealists who relish the thought of being part of something big and "right". Something that aligns them with God in an intimate way.
They (in their minds and hearts) are floating above that whole reward system so it doesnt make it a deal breaker.
It will come eventually (their belief) and in the meantime they are showing God and the world that they stand for what is right and pure.
There are many "causes" one can adopt. This one is theirs.
i went to the kh a couple of weeks ago.
for a funeral.
i haven't been in a kh, except for funerals, for several years.
Hi undercover, First let me offer you my condolences in the loss of your friend.
I just wanted to comment on the "a-hole" elder and his dogmatic views on those who commit suicide.
He obviously isnt up to date on his JW teachings.
There was a Question From Readers that covered this. The example was given of Saul (who committed suicide) and whose remains were placed upon a wall by his enemies. The Jewish townsmen came and took them down and buried them.
David commended them for this.
The article wanders around a bit and then concludes that a brother could give the funeral talk if his conscience permitted.
So..."a- hole elder" got it wrong.
Sorry I dont have the article details more clearly in mind but I wanted to share what I remembered and offer you some validation for your opinion of this elder...it sounds spot on!
hello all, i would like to first say that i am basically questioning my faith in god.
i am not negative towards the wt at all.
so honestly i am to concerned with more ad hominem attacks towards the wt because i still love the organization and the people in it.

If it helps to see my perspective, I have had a family member that has been an ardent apostate (which they embrace) for years now. When I was lurking on another website, I found their posts and saw that their story was a lot different than the truth. The truth is never black and white though. However, our memories always shade in the gray areas to make us believe it can be. Along with that, our goal posts that we use to gauge what is truthful or not always move with personal prejudices. Sometimes they shrink and sometimes they enlarge because we want to believe that what we're hearing has to be the truth.
This does help me to see your perspective. Thank you for writing it.
I remember when I first came here. I would read and go away thinking what a bunch of emotional people. Seeing slang terms for things and people I had been taught to respect was especially off putting. It made me think less of the posters instead of its intended effect.
I persevered and slowly the true gems started to emerge. Like Steve2 said, there are many viewpoints to be found here and more importantly a huge amount of truthful data.
You seem sincere and I have no doubt you will find your way.

hey what's going on with these 'dislikes' ?? Usually there's some consistency with how many pluses or minuses for each point of view...these seem to be all over the place. Is something glitching or do people really feel that strongly about john's story
DATA-DOG
Dang!!! 8 dislikes, just for admitting that I give real experiences, but alter them slightly so they can't lead back to me?? Is that a glitch?? I just broke Simonsays' record! WTF???
I liked your post - very much. I thought it was honest and kind. You are on my "like" list Data Dog (along with John A)

I thought they were on the way to dropping it last year.
When all the summer conventions were about welcoming parties and letting people do the stroll on the stage in the Kingdom Halls.
For a 100 year anniversary, the barely touched on the whole "date" thing. I thought all the distraction and the dainty stepping around and the barely mentioning were smart.
I thought they were all well thought out choreography to letting it die.
Then they went and did this broadcast!
Beyond stupid of them strategically. They were almost out the door so to speak!
It is looking from way out here, like there is a wresting for control in what info will be disseminated to the rank and file.
The wiser "let it drop" folks got their way last summer. The zealots have taken charge this fall.
Is it because there is a power struggle in the tower or is it an attempt to start us all focusing on that instead of other things (such as the money issues and pedophile issues)?
let the equalization begin thru the kingdom hall construction fund.. .
need i add anything?.
