many who have watched the gb know that they seem to be desperate to be admired, to be looked up to…….
now the question arises—do they really enjoy their lives?
does their superiority complex make them feel good?.
I have wondered if there is rampant paranoia and political positioning up there at the "top".
The other thing I wonder are if they are true believers in what they are promoting, how happy can they be? The whole religion is built on judging people and finding them unworthy, or "missing the mark".
Lastly, what are they thinking now about the child abuse stuff that is closing in on them? The dropping membership? The apathy? The failure of the end to come?
The one bad thing about being at the top is it makes you an easy target.
a reader from south carolina has a heartbreaking story:" i am 31 years old.
i was raised in a strict bi-cultural (af-american and nigerian) jehovah’s witness family, one of six children.
though it’s generally looked down upon for jws to attend liberal arts universities (vocational schools are recommended), i somehow convinced my parents to allow me to go to university and major in theater (!!
That commenter is stating the liberal JW viewpoint. The way that is the official "way" to phrase it "technically".
And yet, many JWs DO shun children or congregation members who are not disfellowshipped for "in house" infractions that dont appear directly in print.
Included would be, poor meeting attendance, low field service hours, marrying a "weak" person or nonbeliever, etc.
There are many more ways that you can slide up or down the scale in the JW pecking order. While the leadership may claim they leave that up to the families, there is tacit approval for doing so.

march 21, 2016 to all bodies of elders in the united states branch territory re: donations to “jehovah’s witnesses of india”
Is there really phenomenal growth in India?
I know we cant go by what the Org says....

Goodbye Scooter but pretty wife and you look happy!
the resurrection is supposed to be a joyous occasion?, if it ever happened!
--well, this week's showing at the hall was the opposite, it was about death with violins playing in the background.
a recently bereaved member, , full of tears, (like many others) could not contain herself.
Doubtfully Yours
It was very well done, in good taste.
Is it not a principal part of our faith?! So, why not scenify how it might be?
Lets take your thought above and follow it through....
wouldnt the same thing be accomplished if they focused the video on the resurrection?
The focus is not fully on that however. Time is spent on death.....on using that to build emotion and then ta da! The resurrection!
What people are having an empathetic reaction to is the detailed scripting of the dying that is portrayed in the video.
The fact that the Society feels they have to go to such a detailed and visceral level to present the Resurrection "hope" is what is being questioned.
True sensitivity could include things as simple as showing it at a separate time so grieving ones dont feel obligated to go or miss their meeting.
Or perhaps an announcement the week before?
"The video to be shown next week about the resurrection contains subject matter that might be sensitive to some."
Now wouldnt that be thoughtful?
hello girls !.
i ve been reading you all many times , and from many years ..... i am sure my english is getting better and better because of you !

Love your zest for life!

J'aime la vie~
i was sitting at the meeting this week and the "apply yourself to the field ministry" part started.
it was the first part under, "the initial call".
they read from the "good news" brochure and ask a question on it.
How old is the Good News brochure?
I am surprised how many JWs have absolutely zero idea the whole child abuse issue even exists.

I was at the assembly where they showed that video.
I remember all the tears from people sitting around me and the general sense of heaviness in the air.
I also remember seeing a few people (not a lot but a few!) whos faces looked very "set" and grim. They were not letting the emotional manipulation in. They were steeled against it.
I think looking at the faces and how they receive that sorry video could be a litmus test of who has had just about enough of the Org.
