this one has no dialogue so language doesnt matter.
gotta say, i just saw this video set after Armageddon and even i feel emotional and i haven't been a witness in 18 years. I believe it is the last video played on Sunday afternoon and shows all the people from previous videos, some of whom got disfellowshipped and came back, some who died, some who gave up on their lives to serve etc. I can imagine their will be some serious lumps in throats after it ends and a spring in the step as they go home

Im glad you explained the tie in to previous videos cobweb. I didnt "get" it that they were even the same people and so to me it seemed kind of lack luster. Just a bunch of people in real cotton clothes all smiling a lot.

Thats it! It reminded me of a Cotton commercial!

every year in dozens of cities where conventions are being held, newspapers typically write an article about the event.

there are exceptions, but usually it is like the articles above.

i would love to see more newspaper articles that did some actual objective reporting, rather than puff pieces.

Here in Atlanta one year, a newspaper blurb about the district convention included a photo of the audience. One person could be seen yawning a huge gaping bored yawn. LOTS of irritated warnings followed in the months after, in the local "needs" talks.

You are right vidiot.

DOC mentioned it in his post too.

I know this because I used to take the press releases (already prepared by the Org and the local brothers would fill in the who- what- when- where part) to the newspaper office and drop them off.

The other thing that would happen is the convention chairman would have the press called and if there is a slow news day or if the community events section is not filled, a reporter comes and is treated like a VIP.

They "interview" someone from the chairmans office and get toured around a bit.

The television crews are handled the same way.

Ideologies may differ but whatever need is driving their behavoir so that they want to be there, is exactly the same.

You are teaching your daughter to be healthy and free and enjoy the moment.

i think this is amazing!

i wish this was in place when i was a kid.

The letter reads like guidelines for private reproof. Nothing new

If so, then it means tight pants is a judicial matter. Reproof, private or public is judicial,requiring a committee.

And yes, that would be new.

I am not nit picking your post oldschool. I see you and me as being on the same side here.

I AM picking apart their letter and their policies and will be doing so for as long as they sit themselves up as lords and overseers over other peoples lives.

They need to be consistent within their own policies.

However ridiculous those may be, consistency is a bare minimum standard even they should be able to meet.

Rather than being new wouldn't this simply be defining what was already at the discretion of the local Elders already? Reproof is reproof, they always could do it for any trivial violation found inside WT literature. The mentioned letter may have some defined terms, but it could have been done in the past anyway, correct?

Clothing was always something to be regulated. A good deal of this was informal, members checking each other through gossip, which eventually could lead to reproof action

As far as I know, this stops short of reproof, Reproof can only be for a judicial reason, correct?

Maybe this is more like marking in that one regard (non judicial)

I am guessing. I dont know.

I just see this as a sticky situation, if you tell someone they cant go out in service because of their grooming then who is next?

I mean, wife beaters, drunkards, child molesters, porn addicts, gossips, and disfellowshipped people can ALL go out in service.

But not the kid in the tight pants.
