Jehovah the Pedophile
by MoneurMallard innum 31:17 now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.
num 31:18 but all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.
is it any wonder why so many turn a bad leaf when it comes to sexual morality in the jehovah's witness organization.

JW spokesman: We refuse blood, but it's a personal choice
by MrMonroe indublin news story contains a blatant lie from the mouth of a jw spokesman:.
http://www.thejournal.ie/need-for-discussions-between-hospitals-and-jehovahs-witness-patients-234833-sep2011/.
a court order granted today to allow the coombe hospital give a baby a blood transfusion against the wishes of her parents underscores the need for more discussions to take place between hospital staff and patients, says a dublin branch of jehovahs witnesses.. harry homan, from the south dublin hospital liaison committee said that the issue highlighted the relationship between hospital staff and jehovahs witness patients.. he said, however, that there is already healthy discussions happening across the country.. the parents in this case are very happy with the hospital and the care being give to their baby, homan told thejournal.ie.. there is an excellent relationship between the parents and staff and the child is receiving the best of care.. he added that a blood transfusion will only be given to the premature baby as a last resort.. at the moment, she is doing well, said homan.. rte reports that the transfusion will be given to the baby if her condition deteriorates and it is necessary to save her life.. hospitals are acutely aware of the dangers associated with blood transfusions, claimed homan, adding that it is in everyones best interests to seek alternatives.. he said the position of jehovahs witnesses is perfectly clear on the matter of blood transfusions.. we do refuse transfusions, he said.

Saying there is a choice to take blood..... well, that is like saying a boy who gets military draft papers has a choice.... err... some choice: be a soldier or go to prison..... the same really: refuse blood or we will treat you like you are a rapist/murderer.

Member of Parliament's reply to my email regarding "Mentally Diseased" Watchtower
by Amelia Ashton inif i could offer my perspective.
issues around free speech are some of the most difficult.
balancing the right of someone being able to say what they want against the "harm" that might cause.

If you want to write to a politician, you seriously must....
1. as sizemilk wrote above, look for a politician that is ideal for these matters - experience in religious extremism, etc. - he will have experience, so be easier for him to take it on, and hopefully also a passion - the last one is probably more important !
2. don't just send one letter...... don't even get a petition..... get as many people as you can from this forum to blitz this guy, each sending a letter.... it will have more impact; will catch attention.

Transfusion or Murder?
by iamwhoiam inlet's say a couple is told by a doctor that the odds are good that thier baby will die prematurely unless a blood transfusion is given.
the parents decide not to go through with it due to thier beliefs.
if the baby dies from not getting a transfusion, is that considered murder on behalf of the parents or atleast criminal neglegence?

The other day I had the weirdest day of ministry ever, that really made me think. To my knowledge, I am the only one in this group that doesn't really believe this (only putting on a front so I can speak to family). We didn't do much ministry; just went off all together, all dressed-up, for some recreation in the local area, while the brother taking the group went around the corner. Later, we came back and did a few doors, met him, who thought we'd been busy. I didn't get it. I wasn't too worried about the ministry, well, I'm on these forums etc., but these guys are all supposedly zealous pioneers - probably just pioneering because daddy wants to be on the Service Committee, or something shallow.

Mind Your Own Business WT Pharisees!
by 00DAD ini just started reading eric hoffer's seminal work, "the true believer: thoughts on the nature of mass movements".
in it he made this very interesting comment: .
"a man is likely to mind his own business when it is worth minding.

because they think us "crazy" for having had anything to do with the WTBTS in the first place. "You made your bed/reap what you sow..."
They may see it that way, but it's not like everyone had a choice; I was born into it, and frequently from a couple of years old beaten into going to meetings, and ministry. Like many young ones, I resisted it, but there is only so much beating you can take, not to mention that I was young and naive, while most adults you have much interaction with praises this religion as the moral, upright thing to do. It's like telling an abused wife that she made her bed so must stay with her sick husband.
It's not like a made a choice, or really understood what I was involved in. When parents, siblings, extended family, mostly everyone you know (like some other JWs in the area, was home-schooled to avoid worldly kids) believe in it, you can be rather trapped. I think even some people that join didn't exactly have lives that made it easier to be much else.
However, the average person won't help, because sadly, everyone is flawed, and people find it so easy to just be self-centered; they have so many pressures, things to struggle with, that they don't the energy, let alone time or finances, more importantly, power, to help others they may want to. Hence, they close themselves to it, rahter similar to how JWs ignore the idea that some seemingly nice people will die at Armageddon. As for the governments, why stop a religion that promotes poverty - are there not always riots from the working-class, upset with their lot in life? JWs are sweet music to the government ears; did I mention that they supposedly never cheat on tax, don't do much crime, won't rebel against the government. In fact, for all the socialist (left-wing) ideals that the Watchtower's paradise would provide, it's view of this system as temporary, it's willingness to be a second-rate citzen really provides such an incredible support to the right-wing, that many businessmen would feel uneasy - in fact, more submissive than capitalism could ever dream of.

Not to mention the bros taking the field service meeting who ramble on for ages, giving the same speech they did last week, and the week before...... seemingly unaware.... it's easier than knocking doors, because he can report the time for conducting the meeting as he is supposedly "teaching"...... and we all have to politely listen, pretending we don't know he doesn't prepare, or isn't quite on the same planet...... I suppose if you not on the same planet, you are out in space, so heavenly

The reality can be too painful for people too face, so they make silly comments like the one on your blog...... passive dissidence, etc.
