Thanks talesin. My friend was not a jw, but he was a spiritual man. He always respected me and my beliefs. When he really needed me I took to the mind in which I was taught and cut him off. He was dead to me I would say. The problem now is that he really is. Be careful of what you say. But it's what I didn't say that still bothers me. quendi, your friend needs you reach out. peace. paulnotsaul

Origins matter...
by MrFreeze infunny how the reason that jw's say no to a lot of stuff such as doing toasts or politely saying god bless you when someone sneezes, is that their origins were pagan.
as a jw, i never really agreed with this.
what does it matter what it meant in the past?

One day this simple kinda fella came into my shop. We got to talkin about something of a serious nature and he says: "Don't know sh!t. Don't wanna know sh!t! Maybe he was a JW? I doubt it. But some mentality.

On A Scale Of 1 to 10 How Much Knowledge Does A Jehovah's Witness Have About Their Religion?
by minimus inyears (many decades) ago, most jws knew what their religion taught.
they could go toe to toe with a minister or priest and make some good points.. i believe today's witness knows little about most of the convoluted teachings and revisions of the "truth".
yesteryear's witnesses got a 9/10.

In my experience I'd give em a 1. In my neck of the woods their so hung up on "the truth" phrase that once they here/accept that they don't look into the doctrines or history of the religion any further. peacetoall paulnotsaul

Quendi, I know you care about your friendship. Please, go to your friends house. Make him see your face. Let him here your voice. If he rejects you after that than I say you did all you could do. I lost a best friend because I refused to reach out face to face. My best friend died. You know how the ORG. is. Go and try to salvage your friendship. paulnotsaul

JW directives you thought were downright stupid
by fallen_princess ini remember one time when i was about 17 years old, i wanted to arrange a costume party for the young brothers in the congo around my age.
i suggested it to one of my friends and was told that the elders had advised against it because it could be construed as pagan and masks have their roots in demonism.
of course, i was never shown any biblical proof of this but just that response took the wind out of my sails and i decided to just not go through with it.

How about not supporting christedom. You know, can't go to or join the Y.M.C.A. Buy anything from church based stores like salvation army or goodwill. Donate any money to help anybody thru church organizations. Candy bars, etc. I guess if it does'nt benefit the ORG. you better not support it! OHTHEGAUL paulnotsaul

Paradise Earth for JW's the same as Heaven for other Christian groups?
by punkofnice ini've often thought it weird how jar hoover was going to lovingly murder all non jw's soon (terms and conditions apply and are subject to 'overlapping').
then the good ones would live in paradise happy that their family, friends and loved ones all died because jar hoover would mess with their minds.. recently i've been worshipping in a church but the same scenario has posed itself in a different way.
if good christians go to heaven whilst family, friends and loved ones who don't believe go to hell...........what's the difference from believing that to believing the jw nonsense???????.

The org.'s mindset seems to only deal in certainties and definets. I now wish to worship by faith in wich I don't know exactly what will happen but I hope through my faith what ever the new heavens and earth bring it will be worth the wait. Its a new concept for me. Peace to all paulnotsual

Hi everyone. Does anyone still sometimes get that guilty feeling? You know, be honest, whenever a certain day comes around you felt like you had to be somewhere? Like for me: tues, thurs, & sun. Kinda hard to exercise freedom in christ when the org. demands all your freedom! Peace to all. paulnotsual

Hi everyone. Sorry it took so long to introduce myself. My name is Eric but I go by the handle paulnotsaul. Like many in this forum I also had to admit I had a problem with addiction. My addiction problem was "the truth". I just couldn't get enough of it. As long as I went to my dealer (the WTBTS) thru their supplier (the FDS) I could get all "the truth" I needed. All I had to do was be loyal to the organization and they would'nt cut me off from "the truth". Cause its said that once you have "the truth" were else could you go? So here I am after being hooked on "the truth" for most of my life. I hope you can help to ease the pains of my withdraw from "the truth". I pray with each others support we can beat this addiction and break free from this demon they call "the truth". Oh, one more thing Belief beyond proof is Faith Belief in spite of Truth is Folly. Not my words but makes sense though, right. This is only part of my story but if you have the time I'd like to tell more of it someday. Peace to All paulnotsaul
