Tonight at the beginning of the "Hannity & Colmbs" program, The topic of the JW who is suing a doctor for administrating a blood transfusion against his will, was debated for about 30 seconds. Both commentators agreed that this is a "tough subject," however each felt that "religious freedom must be protected." Sean Hannity ended by saying that "there would be more about this later." I have not looked in the Fox News web site to see if the story is covered in more detail.

Always the same cong's doing the drama?
by Simon inour congregation never once did a drama at an assembly.. my wife's congregation didn't either.. but some seemed to do them every year!.
was this favouritism or 'simony' do you reckon?

That was the case during the 70's and most of the 80's in a circuit in southern Indiana, also the same elders from the same Vincennes, Ind. cong. always had the assembly parts as well until most of the group of elders either stepped down for personal reasons or were removed because of scandal.

'The Assembly days'
by jolly_green_giant inremember going to the 3 day assembly every summer, sitting for numerous exhausting hours on end?
those were tough on me especially when i was really young and wasn't supposed to be roaming the convention center while the talks were being given.
i couldn't beleive those pricks with the "please be seated" sings.

CO sheparding call today!!
by mole inthats right, the co along with one of the local elders paid an unexpected visit to my wife and i this morning.
i was just busting at the seam to bring up the un fiasco but i refrained as they do not know i have made my journey to the darkside.
my wife just glared with the "looks that kill" as they spewed the usual "time is near better not persue a career" line and i should be providing "spiritually" for the family.

Thats right, the CO along with one of the local elders paid an unexpected visit to my wife and I this morning. I was just busting at the seam to bring up the UN fiasco but I refrained as they do not know I have made my journey to the Darkside. My wife just glared with the "looks that kill" as they spewed the usual "time is near better not persue a career" line and I should be providing "spiritually" for the family. He ask me that in view of the times should'nt I be more concerned about making the special Sunday talk. I proceeded to tell him that I have been too busy finishing up my schooling and really have not given it much thought. Needless to say they kicked off the dust and moved on.
P.S. WOW we had 97 meet for field service this AM. Thats good because the usual is only a handfull. -

" (and they fit the mold big-time according to their own definition!

Without trying to sound like a WT writer myself, I find it amazing to see how the WTS takes a subject and uses its crafty wording to mold the thoughts and opinions of the average R&F "dub." In doing some research on the UN WTS connection, I came upon a WT article from Feb. 15, 1993 "Are JW's a cult." (And they fit the mold big-time according to their own definition!) After being away from the "borg" for a number of years then reading the "dubspeak" that is spewed forth in their publications, the intent to shape and mold opinions is blatently obvious and deceptive. Surly we would not want to be found reading such harmful material.

with the recent events, my mom decides to send me this letter as she can not carry on a dialog about things that normal families talk about.

I know many who post here are and have faced the same situation but I am not quite sure how to answer her letter. If she knew how I really felt about this religion she would probably end up going off the deep end which I have seen happen to so many who try to live the JW lifestyle. I will share the letter.
Dear John,
Decided to write a few lines tonight about something that weighs heavy on my heart. Its hard for me to find the right words to encourage you all (wife and my two daughters) to come to the meetings.
Like it says at 2 Timothy 3 "critical times hard to deal with" are here now. Your girls need all the spiritual strength that they can draw on from the meetings, as well as your guidance and direction at home to help them withstand all the pressures they're facing at school.
Jehovah expects you, John, to bring up the girls in his "mental regulating" does he not? (Eph. 6:4) Please pay attention to this most serious obligation!
