  Why prayer and Does it work?

  why i began thinking on prayer was the request from my spanish neighbour to my wife.

  they requested that she come down and pray for his/her child who has been sick.

  my wife believes in prayer and says she knows it works.

  Please take no offense to this comment, but I must say it. You said,

  but we often pray for people who aren't even aware that we are praying for them. So when these prayers are answered, it is difficult to claim the placebo effect.

  Actually you had a 50-50 chance, which is great odds. And if you look at it like that, minds well pray to win the lottery, odds couldn't be better, that prayer will be answered.

  I had a wart on my elbow, and after an intense wrestling match it disappeared. I had much more fun doing that, than I would have with the water trick.

  It is not about lieing to the UN to further their work, it is that the WTBTS should never have even been associated in the first place. Time and again in their literature they have lumped together the prophecied fate of the UN and any who associate with it.

  Our Last Words.....?

  the reality of impending death is our one certainty.

  if we are fortunate enough to live for 70 years, we will have lived for 840 brief months.. the womb to the tomb is a rapid journey.

  i once wandered through a cemetery in a town called rochester in the uk and always having a fascination for last words, i happened upon the c19th tombstone of a man who had been fatally struck while playing cricket!

  Bitter Mango's final days
  Were just a bleary haze
  Fitfully retelling the tale,
  Though every day she grew more pale
  She wanted all to know her fright
  When Santa ran over her, on that fateful night
  She was running from the sleigh
  Screaming No way! No way!

  Hey Ken Good to see ya!
  I think no matter what, a prayer will always seem like it has been answered. Christians say that whatever happens is god's will, so even if the prayer was not the answer they wanted, they will make themselves believe it has the desired outcome. Thus being satisfied with just praying. BTW I never had a prayer answered as I expected, but that didn't make me stop praying. I used to pray alot, at least 20 times a day, I don't pray anymore. I can honestly say that the fantasy world I lived in is no longer present, I think praying helped me to hold on to it for longer than neccesary.

  Okay, I have to get the kids paper ready to write to Santa when they get home I send it to the North Pole right
