Sweet Pea- I asked my Dad the same question. The congregation is still in "groups", I think according to location. This makes handing out the KM's and Watchtowers easier, and in case of emergency or natural disaster (or armaggedon) the group is supposed to stay in contact with eachother.

New Literature Arrangement
by Quarterback injust recently the org has changed the literature distribution to the congregation members.. the changes are:.
1) publishers are to pick-up their mag's weekly in preparation for what they think they will use that week.
2) group conductors shall now distribute the study article of the wt, and the km.. wonder why they have changed this?.

Has Gambling Become A Conscience Issue Among JWs?
by FreeAtLast1914 inthe reason i ask is that i have a coupe of cousins who are still jws who have gone gambling in casinos with us.
i have a brother-in-law who openly brags about his "perfect" blackjack strategy he employs in vegas when he's in town.. i know that growing up as a jw, gambling of any kind was a dfing offense.. is my jw family simply more liberal than most, or has there been a subtle shift in this area since i've been out?.

Religions class!!
by lostandconfused ini'm taking an intro to world religions college class and today was the first day!
(it's a 5 week advanced class) i'm very excited to learn about other religions, since i really have only known one my whole life.
one of our assignments is to visit a place of worship, totally out of our comfort zone and write a report on it.

WC- I already went through the all-night binge drinking when I was a teen LOL...Oh the joys of the teenage rebellion stage. Now I'm in my mid twenties and just now going back to college
Lil. Lady- Thanks for the encouragment. I'm not so sure I care about being spiritual anymore, I have more of an agnostic approach to life...uhhh yea I remember a part from this Sundays meeting ... "Those with an agnostic view should be ashamed they are denying that they don't know Jehovah"
Anyways...none the less, I thought it would be interesting to learn about what other "wordly" religions are all about.

No wonder the WT doesn't want JWs to get "higher education" ...

Today's Watchtower Lesson Really Bothered Me...
by dontplaceliterature ini was a hair away from telling my wife i never wanted to go to the kingdom hall again after today's watchtower.
the conductor mentioned something along the lines of..."if you think having to shun your disfellowshipped children is bad...you should read up on the israelites.
when one of their children was disobedient to the law, they had to take the before the judges so that they could be stoned to death...and guess who's job it was throw the first stone?".

by lil.lady.03 in"ello everybody!

I can relate to having social anxiety. I myself suffer from it; I think it comes from growing up a JW. I get all nervous and weird around people I don't know very well and it's very hard for me to make new friends when I'm not comfortable. IMO, I would be even more uncomfortable knowing someone would be talking about me or judging because I was inactive. Not saying that your friends would, but you know how the usual JW thing goes... Try really hard to make some friends with people you know aren't going to be judging you, it's a lot less stressful...

true...I just compare this to my parents, It's like they have no free thinking whatsoever. They say everything printed in the publications are for our benifit...it's a shame...
