Who or What is the Holy Spirit?
by FusionTheism intradition within christianity has long been that any time the phrases holy spirit, holy ghost, or spirit of godare used in the bible (especially in the new testament), it always refers to the mysterious third divine person of the trinity, who is fully god, co-equal to the father and son, yet somehow distinct.. i want to present a simplified alternative view: let the context determine the meaning!.
(one thing to keep in mind is that the meaning of the bible words used for spirit basically is unseen force or invisible presence.).
the holy spirit as the mind and personality of god.

Could it be the Holy Spirit is the incredible automation that exists in the universe which possibly includes Karma and 'The Force be with you' type phenomena presented in the Star Wars movies. Regardless of whether someone is an Atheist, Spiritual or Religious, I am of the opinion many people would agree to the possibility such a force exists. Some people are good at tapping into it and others 'sin' against it.....for example blowing people up in the name of their God. -

Hi John
very useful website for your research is http://jwfacts.com/.
The main problem is once you get in, you can't leave easily without being shunned for life by friends and family. some answers below in [ ]
What is communion like for Jehovah's witnesses? [once a year on the memorial of Jesus death, but only certain ones allowed to take part. It is called 'The Memorial'.]
What is your important belief as a Jehovah's witness? [That they are not The true religion. There are many JWs on this forum who cannot leave for reasons above]
How has being a Jehovah's witness affected your life? [It destroyed it]
What are your stances on homosexuality, abortion, and divorce? [JW stance is No, No and Maybe. Divorce OK if spouse commits adultery, however not OK if spouse beats you up on a daily basis and verbally abuses you. My stance is be good to others, everything else is a technicality]

Are baptisms under the age of 18 valid? Can one baptised/dedicated prior actually be dfed according to law?
by EndofMysteries inin a business law class i've been learning all about contracts.
i wonder if for all of those who were baptized prior to the age of 18, if the wt/elders could be forced on our insistence that our dedication/baptism as a minor was made without proper mental capacity and that it be declared invalid, henceforth having never been baptized then family, etc, would be free in wt's eyes to treat as any non-jw vs shunning as an ex-jw.

Paul Grundy (JWfacts author) tried legal arguments, under Australian law, to annul his child baptism. Read his story and very well thought out letter to the Borg, here: http://jwfacts.com/watchtower/experiences/grundy.php -
To active JWs who lurk on this Forum: What is sacrifice?

Sacrifice is to die for a cause or principle, to help others
Sacrifice is to bravely give your life saving someone on a battlefield
Sacrifice is to get injured, rescuing someone you don’t know from a house fire
Sacrifice is to sell or give something below value for a purpose
To active JWs, I put forward the following thought provoking questions:
You believe that you must obey the Governing Body, no matter how strange their viewpoints are, and no matter how often they change them. What if they’re wrong (again)?
You shun close family members, in case you displease God and will not get everlasting life. To save you skin, you won’t even RISK that a loving God doesn’t expect this cruelty from you.
You will refuse a blood transfusion to your own child and allow him to be die and be sacrificed, in case you displease God and will not get everlasting life. To save your skin, you will kill your only child. And as an elder you indirectly cover up child abuse because the WTBTS tells you to, in case you displease God.
You believe in Jesus’ sacrifice, however it was done with the knowledge or belief he would be resurrected. So I again ask: what is sacrifice? Could it be that YOUR sacrifice it to RISK not living forever by secretly disobeying some of the more outrageous, unscriptural and cruel edicts of the Governing Body, such as sunning disfellowshipped ones and refusing blood for your family?
Would a loving God punish you for the ‘sacrifice’ of being a compassionate, moral human being?
Comments will be welcome by anyone including active JWs. If you are a lurker, please join this forum using a pseudonym, and speak your mind about this and other topics

You have a $100,000,000 budget to do a global campaign against the WTBS worldwide. How would you spend it?
by JWchange inwhat if by inheritance, winning the lottery or any other way, you suddenly got your hands on $150m after tax.
you maybe would spend a third of this giving your extended family financial security for life.
you maybe would buy a boat and a few investment properties.

Marvin: if the GB members are there for the money, they would sell their own kids for less than $10m of 'my' $100m money , however if they have the disillusion that they are God's slave class, i am of the opinion most GB members would not accept the financial incentive. .They would rather die, as did their followers in Nazi Germany, Malawi etc. -

You maybe would spend a third of this giving your extended family financial security for life. You maybe would buy a boat and a few investment properties. You then decide to play with $100m to wake up JW;s and minimize the chances of new members, Using legal and ethical means, as opposed to violence or unethical means (for example a hit squad), this is what I would do:
1. Hire the best lobbyists in the world to question and possibly stop WTBTS charity status in as many countries as possible.
2. Advertise against WTBTS shunning policies in national newspapers. I would hire the best advertising agencies in the world.
3. Give a million each to well thought out 'apostate; websites such as jwsurvey, jwstruggle, jwfacts, this forum, etc
4. Pay for an all expenses paid holiday and accept to be charged at premium senior counsel rates (via my charity of course re tax deductions ), for Angus Stewart (Australian RC) to consult with my team on my new ship for 2 weeks. .
5. Lobby and eventually teach, via charities I would control, to inform pre teen school kids why they should wait until late teens to get baptized.
6. Use private detectives to follow GB members and Helpers, to see what they get up to.
7. There is no 7. I didn't want to end with an imperfect, worldly, evil, number.
Your thoughts would be welcome.

If you were ‘God’, what would you do?
by JWchange inthis post is not meant to be blasphemous to non-atheists on this forum , just philosophical.
i refer to a god rather than the creator.
it;s 10,000 years in the future and you are a phd student with a brain the size of a planet, that has incredible technology at your fingertips to create life, similar to humans living today or better, intelligently and physically.

This post is not meant to be blasphemous to non-atheists on this forum , just philosophical. I refer to ‘A’ God rather than ‘The Creator’.
It;s 10,000 years in the future and you are a PhD student with a brain the size of a planet, that has incredible technology at your fingertips to create life, similar to humans living today or better, intelligently and physically. To them, if they discovered you, you would be either an alien or God or both. Would you give them free will to decide their own future and what was right or wrong? Would you have a resurrection for all of them or most of them after they died?
Here’s what I would do:1. I would let them do whatever they wanted and whatever nature caused: War, holocausts, famine, earthquakes, floods. I would let them create nutty religions, write ‘holy’ books, bestow Prophet status on certain ones, and I wouldn’t generally interfere. However…..2. I would resurrect all of them at some future date (after all, I have the technology) , to let them decide where they succeeded and where they screwed up. ‘Awakening’
Here’s what I would NOT do:1. Kill them all in a flood or Armageddon and start again. My professor would fail my PhD. Null poins (to use a Eurovision song contest expression) .2. Let them live for longer than a lifetime on a planet I had designed, say 100 years…in case there was an over population and food run out. Prior to their natural deaths and awaking.
Any thoughts? -

Who Qualifies for TTATT?
by John Aquila inwhen i first learn ttatt i started telling every one.
ttatt will not help him, it will destroy him.
all his family are jws.

Very thought inspiring comment John. It shows that ex JWs are not vindictive people who want to harm current JWs just for the sake of principle. In my opinion, Karma and all that applies to your thoughts. BTW the 20's year old Elder and his family are 'game' for TTATT as far as i am concerned. -
