as a JW, I can empathize... Sad stories... family Unity is just not their priority.

by FormerMormon in--because i no longer nelieve.
i was excommunicated for "apostasy".
that was their rationale for not allowing me to speak at his funeral last month.

I ran into an inactive JW at the store we talked for 20 minutes
by RayPublisher ini ran into an inactive jw at a department store last night and we talked for 20 minutes easily, it was actually pretty fruitful.
so here's what happened:.
i see him and recognized him but he didn't know who i was at first as he hasn't seen me in at least a year and i've lost weight, have a goatee and dress way more awesome than i ever did as a dubb schlubb.. so i said hi to him by name and he says, who are you i'm not sure?

I ran into an active JW...surprised
by nolongerconfused inso as you all know, i have fully faded...i'm completely out and have not told the elders or da myself...just faded 100%.... so i run into an active jw, different congregation, and as i walk past him i say, "hey so and so, how are you doing?
"....he looks down, doesnt dare look at me in the eyeball and keeps walking...then a split second later he turns around and says, hey man, aren't yuo disfellowshipped?....
i was like wtf?...lol, i said "not that i know of"...i asked him who told him such thing?...he wouldnt tell me who, but he had "heard"...so i just left it at that and told him if he wants to know then to contact my ex-elders.... my thing is, could the elders have df'ed me without me knowing it?...i have not been accused of their so called "apostasy", nor have i received a letter requesting info or to set up a meeting, nor a call...the coordinating elder (formally president/presiding overseer) still texts me all the time saying hi etc...no religious texts or anything like that).

I'm a fader too. I even run an atheist page on Facebook... and as far as I know, I'm not DFed. But I moved around a lot, so I'm not sure.
Not that it matters... there are more that still stick with me than I expected. Still JWs, but not ready to shun me apparently. In fact, I get asked about my conversion... which is rather nice. The others can shun me all they want, pfff! I find them pathetic. -

Practical Problems Arising From Leaving Jehovah's Witnesses - not on jw.org
by InterestedOne inwhat practical problems arise from leaving jehovah's witnesses?
this question was inspired by a poster whose jw friend refused to be a reference for an apartment.
i wonder if most jw's know deep down that they need to maintain some ties with non-jw's in case they find themselves either deciding to leave or ostracized for some reason..

// When I had my own business, I made it a point not to work for other jws. It prevented misunderstandings and b eing stiffed by a jw customer.//
Smart move Blondie! I agree — NEVER do business with a JW. THey COUNT on the fact that you will never sue them. -

To shun is to judge. Period. These fanatics don't even realize they are going against scripture in "judging" others.
What's worse, they don't judge for themselves, but according to the decision of a commitee that has judged for them.
They don't even have the curiosity to question the commitee! Absurd and wicked. -

Dawkins is my hero - and he would have had no problem converting me if I was so lucky in the past, to knock on his door! :D

I had time to download it... not sure where to place it so you can see... the WTS is very organized in shutting down their video, and I don't want to risk my YouTube account. But it you have an FTP site or something like that - I will be glad to upload it.

Antisocial behavior encouraged
by braincleaned in"our choice of associates.of course, some contact with unbelieverssuch as at school, at work, and when sharing in the ministryis unavoidable.
it is quite another matter, though, to socialize with them, even cultivating close friendships with them.
do we justify such association by saying that they have many good qualities?

"Our choice of associates. Of course, some contact with unbelievers—such as at school, at work, and when sharing in the ministry—is unavoidable. It is quite another matter, though, to socialize with them, even cultivating close friendships with them. Do we justify such association by saying that they have many good qualities? “Do not be misled,” warns the Bible. “Bad associations spoil useful habits.” (1 Cor. 15:33) Just as a small amount of pollution can contaminate clean water, friendship with those who do not practice godly devotion can contaminate our spirituality and lead us into adopting worldly viewpoints, dress, speech, and conduct."

On page 24:
How does daily Bible reading affect our figurative heart?
we may be in our youthful years and realize that there is no better career than full-time service. Still, do we put off pioneering, reasoning that we should first become financially secure? Should we not do our best now to be rich toward God? Who knows whether we will be alive tomorrow?
How freakin' dangerous and careless are these remarks - that have been repeated for the last hundred years, and limited the life f so many? -

I'm confident that there will be elders who care about truth that will leak the information, as it always happens, thank goodness.
It will be interesting indeed - and yes, my money is on both 1914 and the 144K... they are cornered to find solutions ("new light " as they say).
Funny how new light seems to be the new 'hindsight'. Anything fails - and zap! - New light.
How conveniant to reboot information and dismiss yesterday's 'truth'...
Weather Man: We said it was going to rain yesterday - and in a sense, it did, according to this new light that explains bla bla bla.... LOL!
