Look, Up in the Air...It's a Bird, it's a Plane...No, It's a JW!!
by Cold Steel infor you ex-jehovahs witnesses...and even you current ones...have you ever contemplated your future existence in paradise earth, should you be fortunate enough to end up there?
during those raucous, fun moments at the kingdom hall when you were contemplating eternity and having the times of your lives...did you ever speculate about what life would be like?
for example, would you have to walk everywhere or would you be able to fly around like superman?

how about our “magic underwear”? That’s not new, either.
Exactly! Point being all that you believe are old fantasies of our ignorant forefathers!
You have some nerve laughing at JWs when you have a simailar delusion!... and follow a known prankster (to be kind)...
One must ask what business you have being here at all. Trolling is okay in moronic mormonism? -

Like Hitchens and Dawkins have said, we need to respect each other, but we do not have to respect religions.
In fact, to use Hitch's words, I have but utter contempt for religion, especially the Abrahamic religions and their filthy monster of a god.
Thank you for giving me a soapbox to stand on. -

Have You Ever Met...Or KNOW...a GB Member?
by Cold Steel inif so, what is your experience?
i've seen only a few talks by gb members and would like to hear what they're like.
are they personable, aloof, humble, arrogant?

David Splane was our CO back in Canada in the early 70's, and Stephen Lett was our CO in Brooklyn NY...
Like Farkle said...
Lett was nice to preach with... and he had no apparent problem with me writing comic books.
Splane is responsible for pushing my baptism to my dad... still doing that. He was a sore loser at cards! LOL!
Individually, the ones I met were rather nice — but as part of the GB, they have a mob attitude. -

Etude... I'm shaking my head in utter disbelief. Wilson has a bone to pick with Dawkins — and you trust him rather than me — which makes sense, except that I was defending Dawkins the Scientist, not my own opinion.
You are really talking out of school my friend... quoting Wilson refusing to aknowledge Dawkins as a scientist is not in your honor. It's embarrassing...
Has anyone noticed how Etude moves the goalposts, or is it just me? -

Spirit can mean consciousness. It can also mean attitude — so I disagree, and I maintain that I'm a spiritual atheist.
That's it... all the rest are semantics. -

Dawkins Chapter 2 - Dogs, Cows and Cabbages
by KateWild ini have to say, i am afraid i found this chapter labourious to read in most places.
imo i felt he just wasn't getting to the point.
i don't get why dawkins felt the need to teach me all about platoism, essentialism and rabbits.

I don't relate I'm afraid. The explanation of artificial selection to explain natural selection was clear and useful to illustrate how evolution works.
A fun read for me... and very convincing.
