This common stuation exists for two main reasons:
1) — The amount of invensted time, energy, and emotion one has put in the Borg.
Humans have a natural tendancy to not waste a lifelong invenstment in what they have believed to be true, even if it turned out they invensted in nothing.
2) — Peer pressure. Lifelong freindships are key to what we feel we are "expected" to be.
Conformity to the group will prevail, even if a mask is needed.

John Cedar Confronts his Jehovah's Witnesses Elder Father on the UN/NGO scandal
by Scott77 inmy father (who is an elder) hasnt been abusive, but he has reaffirmed that he will be shunning us the moment things become official.
we spent a few days vacation together in picturesque northern croatia before i sat him down and attempted to explain my position.
after i revealed the information on the un/ngo scandal to dad by showing him newspaper articles from 2001, he was initially nauseous and didnt want to hear any more.

Dawkins-The Greatest Show on Earth

I know many who dislike Dawkins — but I have never encountered anyone disliking his writing style!
I'm just surprised, that's all... I find his style not only immensely pleasant, but he makes the effort of being clear in an otherwise complex subject.
Top notch prose, in my opinion. -

More WT Propaganda: 10 Year Old Children Should Get Baptized!
by Oubliette ini just caught this in an upcoming study article which will be "studied" in the congregations the week of 11/18-24/13:.
he and his wife were elated when their eldest daughter, age ten, told them that she loved her parents, loved the brothers and sisters, and loved jehovah very much.
she said that she wanted to dedicate her life to jehovah and get baptized.

This cult makes me SICK! Baptisim is the most important decision of your life???
More than marriage? More than choosing a career? Yet, KIDS CAN MAKE THAT DECISION???
I get murder envies towards those punk-ass GB creeps!!!

If Jehovahs witnesses beleive that the great apostasy began after the death of the apostles ,then why do they quote christendom to support their interpretations ?
by smiddy inone notable example i can relate to is the name jehovah .the name jehovah does not exist in any text, fragment or any manuscript in existence .. however the watchtower says that name is the most popular in usage in christendom .?
so despite what the facts say or the new light as to what gods name was more likely to be (yahweh ) they went along with christendoms tradition and stuck with jehovah .
a name given by a catholic monk in the 13th century.

What I love is how they point to the Scrolls of the Dead Sea to confirm scripture — while they never acknowledge that in that archeological find there were also apocryphal books!!!

This Month's KM: Family Calendar?
by RichieRich inas many of you might have noticed, the may 2005 km has a group of 4 or 5 articles about scheduling family activities.
it includes a blank week long calendar and little slips that you can cut out and paste onto the calendar.
i think this is another crazy, last ditch effort to try and grab the remaining witnesses into the protective brood of the gb.

The Bible and Masturbation...4000 years of inspired input and no scriptures about it ?
by smiddy inmy philosophy when i was a teenager :"those who admit to it are stupid ,those who deny it are liars" that was my response to peers who posed such a subject when i was a teen .now, being a mature aged person i think this subject could do with a bit more enlightened content.. i am a male so i can`t speak for the females ,who, i hope will give their input on this topic for discussion.and i mean it as a serious discussion.. males experience erections from the time they are babies and the natural thing to do is to hold it , and before you know it fondling it gives you releif.. society doesnt help by making you feel guilty and like shit as a dirty person.why in the world do babes ,young children ,young boys get erections before they even know what it`s function is for.
if a god designed sex for procreation then surely this wouldnt become an issue until they reached the age of puberty ,not when a male is still a baby.. and getting back to my op nowhere in the bible does it talk about masturbation which surely has been going on since adam was a boy/man.. i`m sorry, but to deny that you would have to be a complete idiot ,imbecile ,fool ,or just brain dead.. so for 4000 years of inspired scriptures from god ,nothing is said about a condition that effects every man from his birth to his death .. makes you wonder doesn`t it ?.
smiddy.

I remember feeling guilty for the logest time because of this piece of shit book, written by old crappy sex-fearing idiots.
I HATE the WTS and their criminal inventions for guilt tripping the young ones... I finally feel better now, and happily masturbate anytime I feel like it. -

Knowledge by Proxy
by braincleaned inwhatever our convictions are, we all have one thing in common; we have learned them from other sources.. we have knowledge by proxy... we didn't find things out all by ourselves.
we let trusted sources talk for us.. belief is not something that you choose.
but if there is no elephant, i do not "choose" to believe it isn't there either.

I will also add a spin on his own words, and state that anyone who asks me to follow him even if it means rejecting my mother or daughter — is not worthy of me.

//I may remind you of your words here, at some point, lol.//
LOL!
Of course, you do know that I refer to his words as I would to the words of Little Red Riding Hood.
He is the reference here, not that I believe in him.But yes, it is important not to go beyond what is written, or amalgam what Paul said about the spiritual armor to Jesus words!
If we go that direction, there are much more references to literal swords. As I have said, it is your interpretation of an otherwise clear statement of Christ (who by the way also told Peter that those who live by the sword shall die by that sword)!!!
A sword means a sword, and the truth means the truth. Why would Jesus be purposely unclear to everyone except those he chooses to reveal his true intent?
It makes no sense at all! Again, our bloody history did in fact prove him right. Also, Revelation portrays Jesus with a literal sword too, and he is not coming to preach truth anymore...
You are picking and choosing, backing up with the unverifiable and unlikely claim that he speaks directly to you.
Can you see what most of us see here? ;) -
