The Stone the Builders Rejected
by sabastious inin the first post in this series i discussed the identity of the watchtower as per revelation 13. the second post dealt with the identity of the harlot and the scarlet beast.
this post will deal with the third element "the image of the beast", lets read revelation 13:15-17:.
the second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed.

apart from what tec has to say the title of this thread is great "the stone that the builders rejected" but i haven't been able to understand much of your reasoning Sab as I tend to shy away from Revelation.
but the phrase itself is evocative of our own experiences of being rejected and turned to stone as it were which then means we are presented with the opportunity to become chief conerstones (at least in deciding our own lives)

my sympathies are with cofty on this thread. I'd like to know what tec has to say about all the denunciations being poured on him as she often seems to be fair and tolerant

the way I see it there is a huge steak of independence about the way Candace Conti acted bringing her own principles to the fore. She brought her own originality and impetus to her case and what she has done stands out from the others. This is not to minimise any support and encouragement she recieved from the los angeles branch of xjws after she made her decisions. Imo Bill needs to acknowledge this publicly if he going to appropriate her to his cause.
edit: mind you I do appreciate what silentlambs and of course Barbara Anderson have done in publicising chid abuse within the org.
I have mixed feeling about anonymous but it seems to me that they are a loosely? affliated organisation intent on exposure

Another reason why 1914 is WRONG
by EdenOne ineven if 607 had been the actual date of the destruction of jerusalem .... 1914 would still be wrong.
when the wts says that "7 times" equals 2 x 3,5 times of revelation = 2 x 1260 days = 2520 days > one day / one year rule = 2520 years.. now, 2520 / 7 times means that one "time" has 360 "days".
this corresponds to the lunar year.

roberta804 - me too - I tried many times to work it out - always came up with a wrong date.
the way I see it - Russell and co were at least trying to be scientifically modern in their day in applying the latest popular interest in numerology to discover profound hidden truths from the bible (and the pyramids) that had been obscured by culprits like superstition and of course catholicism!!!! old supersitition became the new science and for this we can applaud them.
I wish modern day jws would dig into these issues as you are doing edenOne and get some elohim going.

Humans have looked heavenward for their destiny whilst being aware of their earthly origins as soon as they began to ask questions - this forms a basis of inquiry just as much for the scientific community both ancient and modern.

okay I have re-read your article edenOne and believe me you are not misleading anyone as shelby is quick to point out (she is merely sharing her opinion together with her particular interpretation of the biblical passages). You have worked out your reasoning in and though holy spirit as you have clearly shown. Life on this earth is temporary - I so agree - most atheists would agree with you. In your interpretation of Genises you flesh out the prospect of a hope of life in heaven for all those who endeavour to live morally significant lives. This is very different from Jehovahs witnesses who preach indefinite life on earth for the majority of sheeplike ones.

please help
by joyfulfader ini am posting to ask this group of wonderful people to help my friend who is with me now.
we are discussing her serious doubts and the barriers she is facing as the wife of an elder with small children.
she is desperately looking for help to pull away without causing dissention in her otherwise very good marriage.

joyfulfader, my situatiion is similar to that of your friend. My husband has remained an elder through thick and thin.
For now jif she just tells herself her family will benefit in the long run from any even small moves she makes towards freedom. Often it just the thoughts in your head and the feeling in your heart that count and benefit your family in subtle ways.
