TRUTH according to wiki has two components - facts and reality. The scientific method tries valiantly to put the two together imo. do you guys agree?

Ton Ten REASONS why Jehovah's Witnesses simply can't abide reality
by Terry in1.the organization itself denies access to reality and substitutes its own version, interpretations and meanings.. a.only watchtower approved publications are allowed.. b.no higher education is to be pursued.. c.no non-jw friends or associations are encouraged with their "outside" points of view.. d.no free-style questioning of doctrine or criticism permitted.
curiousity is verboten.. e.threat of being "marked" or disassociated looms over them.
2.between every real-world event and the rank and file jw's mind is a roadblock.. a.the moment of identifying is short-circuited by an interpretive moment of re-labeling in watchtower-speak.. b.all things happening are forced into a narrow storyline and propagandized as end times happenings leading to armageddon.. 3.social and personal identity is expunged and replaced by a collective persona: "jehovah's witness".. a.private thinking is red-flagged as selfish and sinful.. b.personal improvement, welfare and ambition is crushed and door-to-door ministry substituted as "worthy" endeavors.. c.self-conscious obsession permeates witness awareness as each person is transformed into a public spectacle of performance for judgement.. d.since you aren't an individual you don't really have a right to fall in love and marry or educate or earn.

I came here to see how Terry is doing and what do I find - lol - definitely up and running.
Terry I so agree with a point reagrding reality you made on p2 post 9967.
I agree with sbf that true reality is indiscernable but then, as Terry said, reality is what happens to us without us noticing it.

thanks everyone. I'm not going to reject anything anyone has said on this thread because in a strange way it all fits into my worldview.
For example if we take the scientifc method as isolating everything that can belong to science and everything that can be included in it via testing the evidence and then bring in slimboyfats's argument that the facts and closeness to reality that science accumulates is part of a normative procedure then it is also easy to see how the treatment that he is about to undergo steps outside what is normative and indeed challenges what is natural and normative to find a cure for his condition.

thank you all for your comments - mulling them over.
yes I see what you mean, otwo and scotoma. PUtting this together with what others have said, what I like so far is that there are contingent aspects to scientific the collection of knowlege. For example as bohm and sbf have pointed out, knowledge is contingent upon what one wants to know at the time and on what is possible to know at any one time and then on what remains to be discovered that can be added to what one knows. Or have I got this wrong
edit: also that the scientific method does not lead to absolutism.

Bohm, I'm not denying the effectiveness of the scientific method and of science but I personally don't know enough science to form an allegiance to it, not to the extent that you have anyway. Also when I see science v religion debates on jwn that provide new insights into what we call the natural world and when these debates help people break free from dogmatic thinking I am very happy
regarding your point to SBF above that 1 apple plus 1 apple = 2 apples - Yes it is true that this would be true to stoneage man just as it is true to us.
But on the other hand apple + branch + tree does not equal apple + bowl + table even in mathematics (pls excuse me overstating the case)
but nonetheless stone age man would recognise an apple even if it was presented to him in a bowl on a table.
