this happened out in door to door sales with me and another jw one morning.
we were in a run down neighborhood when we approached the door of a ramshackle house.
as we stepped up to the front door, i could smell a strong odor of garbage and urine.

i have a question.
at the beginning of each meeting at the kingdom hall, the chairman invites us to find our seats and be seated.. after we have got ourselves comfortable and all is (reasonably) quiet, the meeting chairman then invites us to stand and sing the opening song.. does anyone else find this a bit strange?
why are we invited to sit, then before we've done anything else, we're invited to stand.. just seems odd to me.
lol, reminded me of funny quirky things involving standing/sitting. with the opening song, ever _try_ just walking to your seat when invited to 'find' it, then just standing there knowing you're about to be asked to anyways? its only like a few seconds but it feels so wierd and uncomfortable... ive done this a few times.
another one. i was at the assembly recently and i laugh every time i hear this expression (generally twice a day) "You may wish to remain standing for some announcements" - its so neutral, not a suggestion of whether sitting or stnding would be preferable, simply a statement that you _may_ wish to remain standing. true, i 'may' wish, i 'may' wish not. i would assume quite a number wouldnt dream of wishing to stand for the announcements until they were informed that they 'may' wish to. yet, once the suggestion is made, everyone suddenly decides they _do_ wish to...
'you may wish to remain standing for some announcements...'
'i may? yay, thank you for permission!'
again, try sitting. 'you know actually, i dont wish to, but thank you for pointing out the fact that i may have'

well as most of you know, when the society reorganized the governing body retired as officers, in fact the society itself is run by earthbound members.. .
recently two governing body members kicked the bucket, klein and swingle.
that leaves the jw's with just eleven governing body members, who spiritually feed the masses, while the other sheep run things.. however, six of the eleven are so old they don't even know what time of day it is, the other five are younger and newly.
the publications are not printed on recycled paper generally.
ive been told that no recycled paper provider could meet the large demands of the work. i have no reason to doubt that but have never investigated.

jehovahs witnesses are lovely people, i should know - i officially still am one ... but ... although their great cult leader, judge joseph rutherford, banned them from taking part in the evil pagan celebrations of birthdays and such, there is one ceremony that is ridgedly and solemly adhered to.
the anual celebration of the "lords evening meal".
as most here are aware, each nissan14, kingdom halls around the world are packed to the collection boxes with the 'happiest people on earth'.
this raises a question ive wondered about. when people _do_ show up out of the blue and partake, do they usually get counted? of course, we are not sposed to judge who's genuine or not but in practice, do u think elders make exceptions when they feel it necessary? how many of the 8000+ would be accounted for by people that just showed up and either chose to disobey or the talk or just didnt get it?

she misses him so very much that she still cries sometimes for him when she has a bad day.. about 2 months ago, my husband was at her house working on his car.
when he came home, he told me that jehovah's witnesses came knocking at her door.
she invited them in the house.
the feeling is that we dont know how jehovah will satisfy the resurrected ones who can no longer marry but that we will have to wait and see what the 'new scrolls' say, confident that jehovah will 'open his hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing.' i personally believe that in compensation, resurrected ones will be permitted as much sex as they want, no-string-attached. orgies even. that seems fair. altho i spose then the great crowd might feel like theyre getting the gyp.

im not the first to go through this, i wont be the last.. i was raised in the truth as a result of my mum starting a study when i was 4 years old.
that was in 1968. the hysteria of a 1975/armageddon was just beginning to take root and the sister who studied with my mum was 100% sure of it.
I am currently in the same situation, sans kids.
may i ask about your wife's view on things? does she worry about your having been influenced by demons, of being prideful? does she worry about being in paradise without her husband and kids?
or does she try to see things from your perspective despite disagreeing with it?
i would like suggestions just as much as you, but knowing how she looks at things might help me make better suggestions myself.
