i was reading this week the book of jonah and it got me thinking.
was he a false prophet?
he prophesied that jehovah would destroy nineveh and it did not come true.
what are you talking about?? jonah was an amazing prophet. here was a city that was so bad, that every single man, woman and child without exception was deserving of execution! can you imagine a city so evil? and he came and did a little preaching and every single man, woman, and child without exception repented and was spared from death! thats incredible!

all the footnotes in most bibles point to this date, as the final fall of jerusalem.
if this is the correct,this date means this is when the 2,520 days of years commenced.

One must remember that scholars are very cautious in being dogmatic about the chronology of this very contentious period of biblical history.
well said scholar! for example, you would never find scholars dogmatically asserting that there are 'pivotal' dates, that have been 'absolutely proved' by secular history. no, they have more sense than that.

evolution and mans consciousness of god existence .
when man discovered how to make fire it was an evolutional break thru.. his mind (brain) had developed to the point of making all kinds of discoveries.. a natural question for a being as he gains more and more consciousness is at a some point to ask the questions:.

it was started by russell and completed by rutherford who published it.
i am half way through the book and have skimmed through the majority of it.. rutherford either had to be drunk or crazy when he wrote that pitiful interpretation of revelations.

scarlet beast = Rome you might wonder how there can possibly be so many symbols of the catholics all in one book! some of the symbols are even opposing characters, you have to read the book to see how that works. of course, as bizarre as it all looks, its not too different from the modern revelation book. instead of catholic symbols everywhere, all the symbols in revelation represent the witnesses preaching or conventions.

i have been doing a lot of research lately on jws and the new world translation.
through history, i found that king james, in 1604, ordered a commitee to accurately translate the original scriptures, from hebrew and greek, into the english language.
this took 47 people 7 years to do and thus came up with the kj bible.
the All Scripture Inspired book gives the most thorough explanation of the source documents used in translation. (principly the Wescott & Hort Greek Translation and the Biblia Hebraica, if memory serves.) of course there are still lots of unanswered questions like who exactly the translators were and what there credentials were that you will not find in any WT publication, but about which you will find much info on the net.

i think in time, the blood transfusion doctrine will fade away very similarly to mormon's polygamy doctrine.
the doctrine met with increasing legal pressure from the state and internal dissent from more liberal members.
the tide seems to have turned after the doctrine was about 50 or 60 years old (i am using 1830s as origin date) and from about 1900 on, the lds church no longer offically sanctioned the belief.
hmm, well i suppose im imagining that when this does happen, it wont be a big article with the words 'Blood is OK' in big red letters at the top. it will be a continuation of the gradual steps we're already seeing. change from DFing offence to DAing, changes in the provisions of Medical Directives, subtle changes in wording, different instructions to HLC members, etc. eventually there will be no definite direction from the society on blood, just words to this effect:
Some Christians have understood the biblical direction to apply to blood transfusions or other medical uses of blood.* [footnote: The Watchtower does not endorse medical, exercise, or dietary treatments but presents well-researched information. Each person must decide what he himself will do.]
but continuing to talk about 'jehovah's righteaus laws on life and blood' or somesuch without clearly delineating what these are. i dont think the average r&f would even be sure exactly what had changed. sure, some people will be happy to shed this doctrine (altho those people will just as likely leave in disillusionment) but for a lot of people the horrors of blood will be so deeply ingrained that they will hold the course. dont you see this as a very plausible scenario?

but once the borganisation declares against the blood doctrine then i can't see anyone holding on to it
why not? how many r&f witnesses do you think you could ask about homologous transfusion or any of the 'conscience-matter' blood fractions that would say, 'oh yes. i used to think those were bad, but now they are conscience matters and im ok with it.' laugh. very few can even keep track of whats been opened up to conscience and fewer still have adjusted their view away from a dogged 'abstain from blood means do not have anything to do with blood in any way.' when the whole thing finally goes away and becomes a conscience matter, the average jw will still stick to his guns for years to come. fortunately for the WT, no one will be able to sue them though.

if someone has already noted this, then i apologise, but i have just received the awake and i could not help but be amazed at the paragraph on page 9 .. they admit now that u s national earthquake centre report that large quakes "fairly constant throughout 20th century" furthermore they say.
" note though that the fulfillment of jesus words (matt.24.7)does not require an increase in the number or power of earthquakes....distress is measured not by number or how they rate on the richter scale, but by the effect they have upon people".
apparently it is all our fault for building in the wrong place.. is this not a u turn?.

note too that they are only backing away from the seismic frequency argument here, not the death toll counts mentioned sometimes as seen in the references posted by messenger. that interpretation still stands. without having seen the magazine, im assuming it goes on to give some numbers of what its calling 'the effect they have upon people.'

yes, it is a u-turn but it is not the first time they have distanced themselves from the ridiculous frequency of earthquakes argument. ill have to check but i think even the Knowledge book avoids this stupidity. needless to say, you wont find a 'whoops. we counted wrong' apology anywhere.

taunton -- the middleboro man who is accused of last week's mugging outside jehovah's witness kingdom hall and a knifepoint robbery at dunkin' donuts was ordered held in lieu of $15,000 cash bail yesterday.
richard e. morse jr., 41, of 1 everett st., was arraigned in taunton district court before judge kevan j. cunningham.. the charges against him, two counts of armed robbery, one count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and a count of receiving a stolen motor vehicle, were continued to feb. 7.. morse is accused of threatening a woman with a knife outside the jehovah's witness kingdom hall off jackson street last thursday.
he allegedly stole her pocketbook, bible and cellular phone.. then last friday, he allegedly went into the dunkin' donuts at harts four corners, grabbed the woman behind the counter and threatened her with a knife.
what flippant? i tried to write a moving and beautiful hypothetical experience. i poured my very heart out into that and it gets dismissed and made fun of?
