Challenges Facing us in the New System
by stevieb infrom time to time some of us may have wondered about the amount of work that we will have to do restoring the post-armageddon world into a paradise.
think of all that construction and all that clearing up!

lol rebelledat12, this is par for the course with ministry experiences. in fact the 3rd experience in the original post probably started out this way, with a guy that took the magazines just to get rid of some annoying kid that was being persistent ("when you say you are not interested, do you mean not interested in religion or just me? ... but these are different magazines than last time you said that...") and the kid went away saying 'haha, he really wanted the magazines and is just PRETNENDING he isnt' and the brother he was with said, 'haha jimmy. that's right, he was. what a fine attitude!'

I belive the watchtower will fall.
by sleepy ini belive the watchtower will fall.. maybe not now but in ten or twenty years its really going to be struggling.. it will be obvious to most in a few more years thay armageddon is not coming , 1914 is wrong etc.
"apostate knowledge" will become much more widespread due to the internet.. it is different to other religions in the fact that everyone is looking forward to armageddon in their life time.
it is the driving force for witnesses and will cause it to die.armaggedons no-show will cause bitter disappointment .. those who have left already , and have taken their families with them have stunted future groth as this is mostly made up of children of believers .. people are becoming better educated and more knowledgeable in general.. all the elderly ones will have died, with no link to the past ,and no armaggedon enthusiasm will die out.. this generation of witnesses may be the last.. (then i woke up)or did i?

you might say the WT of 20 years from now will be so different from today that it can no longer be called the WT. but what exactly do you mean by 'gone?' can you name another religion that disappeared in this way as comparison so we know what you mean?

there should be a BOE letter asddressing using exp that someone told you and yet they don't
they like this out of the way exp to keep the troops fired up
yes, there is. elders are told to be very cautious about emailing experiences or using emailed experiences and they pass this advice along. jeez you cant have it both ways. dont you think the WT is scared of the internet and too controlling of what members do? and youre complaining that theyre not controlling enough?? ULs are a part of every culture and JW ULs are just another group of them with interesting twists. you dont have to find fault with the WT every time you read anything JW-related, you know.

Greg Stafford's New Book Has Shipped
by AlanF intoday i received greg stafford's new book three dissertations on the teachings of jehovah's witnesses.
for those who don't know, stafford has been a staunch defender of the watchtower society's teachings for at least six years, on the net and in print.
his previous book, jehovah's witnesses defended (1998, 2000), is a milestone in pro-jw literature.. the new book is a radical departure from stafford's previous book in that he strongly questions the society's doctrines about blood transfusions, the basis for the claim of spiritual authority by jw leaders, the necessity for christians to believe the society's 1914 doctrine, and issues of "legalism" including the propriety of requiring "time" in the field ministry to be reported, and even the supposed scriptural basis for the society's ban on celebrating birthdays and christmas.

Return visits
by sleepy inman i used to hate doing return visits.. at one time i worked with a lot of pioneers and they always did a load of return visits.. but most people they called on were either elderly and liked someone to talk to or people who may have been polite , or took the mags on the doors , but had no real interest.. i used to hate the way poeple would say to call back on the "intrested ones" as nearly no one you call on is interested in being a witness.. yet most witneeses cant see this.any sign of a conversation or just looking at the mags and every thinks they are interested.. so most of these pioneers just ended up irratating people who were just being polite, by repeatedly calling on them.. sometimes after a few weeks , the person would just disappear , you knew they were hinding behind the door or something.. so i hardly ever had return visits as i found i could quickly tell whether someone is being polite or had a real interest in tallking, although i kept some calls going just so i could count them.. succsessful pioneers are just the ones who cant read the signs of disinterest easily , and just wear someone down so much that they give in to their preaching.

Succsessful pioneers are just the ones who cant read the signs of disinterest easily , and just wear someone down so much that they give in to their preaching.
the absolute most classic case of this is an elderly pioneer sister who after being told to leave and having the door slammed on her, will open the door back up by herself and toss the magazines in, returning to the car to tell everyone about the 'excellent return visit' she had. i kid you not--there is not one word of exaggeration. needless to say, the other pioneers dreaded doing calls with her.

How would a WTS 'operative' behave?
by Simon ini'm sure several here have posted and tried to be a thorn in the flesh of some of the jw-loyal forums on the net.. what was most effective?
if someone announced "i am an apostate and i think you jws are all wrong and i will prove why" do you think they would last very long?
to be able to do any damage so to speak, a careful masquarade would need to be maintained of being a loyal jw while stying to stir things up.. now, think of how anyone opposed to us 'opposers' would behave here .... would they announce that they are jws and they they were going to "set us all straight" ... or would they pretend to be an apostate ... pretend to 'help with the cause' but try and do more harm than good?.

Most clear is that trolls especially like to use repeatedly a divide-and-conquer strategy. To wit, I notice people lambasting Kent sometimes
people dont lambaste kent because of some clever divide-and-conquer strategy. they lambaste him because he is an idiot.
i repeat, never attribute to conspiracy that which you can more easily attribute to human stupidity.

does stafford say anything about his motives in producing a book that is more critical of the WT than previous books? either in the foreward like penton or on channel c where he sometimes posts?

Book Of Job
by badboy inin the back of the nwt,1981 edition, its says that job was written 1473 b.c.e on the plains of moab by moses.. how was it possible for moses to write the book of job on the plains of moab when the exodus happened about 1446 b.c.e.
during tuthmosis 111 or his son's reign?.
(the israelites were still in egypt in 1473!).

also, it amazes me that in anonymous books like job, esther, ruth etc. not only are there no details as to the authors identity, there are no indications that the books even had authors, or of how they obtained information at all, a sure sign of fictional literature.
imagine reading a document which you believe to be a factual and historical account, say an old newspaper, and theres a cutaway scene in heaven. really imagine this. like say something like "The death of the famous Mother Theresa was mourned by religious leaders around the globe. The Pope, Dalai Lama, the Almighty God, and the Archbishop of Canterbury all expressed their condolences." Now after checking to see if this is a real newspaper and not the Onion, wouldnt you be slightly curious as to exactly how the writer thinks he got information about what god said? Even if you knew and trusted the writer for some reason, you would still be curious as to their sources. wouldnt an intelligent writer foresee this?
but the author of job didnt think his writers would be curious as to the cutaway scenes in heaven in chapters 1 & 2 at all, and therefore provides no details about how he came upon this supernatural eyewitness testimony, because he didnt intend any of it to be taken as factual. Oh, its fantastic literature, a fascinating vehicle to explore the age-old theological quandary 'Why do bad things happen to good people?' in the culture of the time. But im sure that if you were to tell its author that thousands of years later, millions of people think it all actually really happened, he would be amused and flattered but then ask:
"but what about the cutaway scenes in heaven in the first act? werent those a dead giveaway?"
and youd say, "well these people think that all really happened to."
"but how did they think i got that information. i just kept cutting away and cutting back without a single word of explanation," he'd wonder.
"yeah, well you know, they dont really say much about that. i guess they think god told you somehow."
and then he'd say, "hang on. who are you and how did you get here again?" he's not that dumb.
