"Drugs are demonic, mmmmkay?"
by Mr. Falcon ini hope everyone is having a wonderful summer filled with district conventions and auxillary pioneering.
just kidding, let's talk drugs.. as a kid growing up in the mid-80's and through the 90's, we had all kinds of lame, pointless anti-drug programs at school.
the most common one was the d.a.r.e.

I was not raised a JW's so I never really heard this about demons coming when you are "open" by being on drugs but I actually believe it can happen. I have a brother with a very bad drug problem and when I've seen him messed up, he has the most insidious look in his eyes and all he wants to do is wreak havoc. I actually at times have thought a demon has inhabited his being. when you look into his eyes it's not even him, it's something else. And it's scary.

Yes! I saw it. Wasn't too impressed with it though. The only story I liked and really believed was the lead singer of Megadeath. Loved him. He had an interesting story. The other people....not so sure.

I'm new here..... Studying with the Witnesses
by PenelopePaige inhi- i just wanted to say that i have been checking the website out for a few weeks and have read some horror stories and some sad ones.
but i have been studying with witnessess for about six months and can't help but feel that they're completely sincere and maybe even, the true religion.
i love the watchtower and awake and to me, none of that seems crazy.

Concerned JW- Thank you :) I will look more into it. But I wanted to ask you; If you were to have a near death experience, and went to heaven, would you believe it? I read a book called, "To Hell and Back" by Dr. Maurice Rawlings. (I also met him before he died, he has a local Winery) anyway, one of the stories was of a woman who "died" in the hospital and her spirit floated to the top corner of the room and up and out the window, on her way up, she saw an old shoe outside one of the hospital windows, it was on one of the very top floors, and after her ND experience where she went to heaven, she described this shoe exactly; what brand, what color, the fact that the laces were removed, and one of the nurses went up and looked out all the windows until she found the shoe- exactly as the woman had seen it from the outside! I've read a few stories like this, that really seal my belief that people who are saved go to Heaven. That's just one of the things I differ on, I don't believe it's only 144,000. But like I've said before, I'm sure most of you know your bibles way better than I, so..... we'll see. I've just begun, I hope to really get into the Bible and learn all I can. :)

The JW's seem, to me, to follow bible principles so precisely, maybe that's what I should have said instead of calling them "the true religion". I think my thinking may be skewwed as I've seen so many people that profess to be christians cheating, stealing, lying etc. , not to mention the pastors on t.v. asking for money in their flashy suits and hair pieces, that when the JW's came to my door, and all they want is to help me learn my bible and know God- well, to me they just seem to be trying so hard to do what pleases God and not themselves. But where I differ with them is that I do not and never will, believe in a Paradise Earth. I believe in Heaven and Hell. I know someone who had a near death experience and went to heaven, and I believe this person wholeheartedly, plus, I've seen too many people talk about this subject on t.v. and I've even exchanged emails with Howard Storm (don't know if you know who he is but he had a very profound ND experience that changed his entire life) so, I don't mean to say "true religion" - not meaning to back track, guess I mean, "sincere religion" . And of course, I think Baptists, Catholics, Methodists, are going to Heaven as long as they are saved. :)

Ok- :) I surely see what you're saying. And you're right. Although, the paranormal investigators immediately jumped to the conclusion that we might have been abducted, asking over and over about "missing time" and things like that, but we weren't biting. We thought something strange had happened but surely didn't think we were abductees. Although, I see your point.

Ziddina,
For years, after our paranormal experiences, I thought like you, that it was just something unexplained, not neccesarily good/ not neccesarily bad. But, how awful for a little boy to be "trapped" somewhere in the in -between. Why would that happen to a child or anyone? I tell you- It was the most horrifying experience. Creepy isn't a good enough word. It was awful. Now, after studying with the Witnesses, it does make more sense to me that it would be Satan trying to trick and decieve than to think that some poor child would be "stuck" in nothingness.
And, like I said earlier, where I get completely befuddled is when I read things like what you posted above; about the Berekhat Ram figurine. When I hear about things I never knew of like that, I think my head might as well just explode; I get so confused.

Actually, the truth is, even though I was raised in church (Baptist) I never really read my bible. And I didn't learn much in church. I suppose it's just the church I went to. Alot of the sermons seemed to be more "self-help" type stuff than the nitty gritty bible stories that I feel I should have been learning. Like, last night I saw on the TBN channel, a pastor on there giving a sermon that basically went in circles like this "You should praise God, because you want to praise him! Praise God because he IS God! Praise God when you eat breakfast! Amen! Praise God when you eat lunch! AMEN! Praise God when you're eating dinner! Can I get an Amen? Praise him when you Praise him! Praise him Praise him!" Basically this went on for about 30 minutes and sort of reminded me of my church. I walked away, knowing I should praise him and be a good Christian but didn't know why. I don't think we had a very good pastor. So, only in the last year or so have I decided that I really need to learn my bible and understand as much as I can so that I'm not just Praising God because I've been told that I should. And I also have not really had an interest in religion until recent years. I mean, I called myself a Christian but I'm not so sure I always acted like one. And when I say that I've been confused, it's not so much the bible, it's everything coming at me; things I see on the History Channel (for instance, I didn't know until recently that there were MANY Gods- I know alot of people know this but I just didn't) and things I have heard from different people from different religious groups. Anyway, there's some background. :)

Penelope - To help me get an idea of where you are coming from, I was wondering something: do you have a college/university degree?
I don't know whether to be insulted or not. Are you implying that I'm uneducated because I said that I have a hard time understanding the bible sometimes? Maybe I shouldn't have been so honest, as I guess it's made me come across as dumb? Anyway, I went to college for a little over two years but did not finish, no. I left to become an artist and have been doing that now for over ten years.
